I can see it now..
Kevin "The Real F-A-G" Killa tearing up the mic with his apathetic flows.
*Sidenote: Couldn't call you the real OG because you aren't original...nor are you "gangsta"...and also Ice T would pop a cap in my ass for using that nickname*

The verdict on Rap...
Let's set the record straight 1st and foremost. You have RAP, then you have HIP HOP. Two TOTALLY different things.
Rap is the garbage forced down our throats by MTV and Fuse. That Young Joc, Lil' Scrappy, 50 Cent shit. The crap that's sending the genre to hell.
Hip Hop is the REAL form of the music. Kayne West, Rakim, Common, LIttle Brother (Before the split), Murs & 9th Wonder, Talib Kweli, Public Enemy, Lupe Fiasco, KRS One. THAT'S Hip Hop. The art of storytelling by song. Rhymes that are meant to catch your ear and make you THINK about the message or point of view the MC is trying to portray. Not about how many ho's he has and how big his rims are.
So the music that most of you dislike IS in fact "rap", but not Hip Hop. Hip Hop at it's base is not about "Flossin". It's about tearing down stereotypes and speaking one's mind. To an extent, Nas (Another fine MC) was right when he was quoted saying "Hip Hop Is Dead". But it's not ALL dead, but it is slowly dieing with all the cookie cutter garbage coming out it seems every other week. And the idiots who keep on buying it, feeding into it's stupidity. It's all about who can appeal to middle america (And Jix can attest to this next point). The little 15 year old wanna be thug that lives in suburban america, who the closest thing he's ever seen of a "hood" is an episode of of The Wire. You know EXACTLY the type. And because they wanna fantasize about rollin' on 20's and havin' ice out grills, they go out and plunk down 12 bucks for the CD's, 2 bucks for the ring tones, and the cycle just continues.
I think it's gonna take and MC to just come out of nowhere and just bomb on the WHOLE industry for it to wake up and see that this crap they put out is NOT the music. And I would know, I LOVE ALL Kinds of music (Though I am VERY partial to Electronic music most), but I'm a Hip Hop head at the core. You can't grow up in The Bronx and NOT be. If you ever get to in LIFE hear two MC's have a battle, listen to what they say. THAT'S Hip Hop. It can't be rehearse, or practiced. When's the last time Young Jeezy battled someone?
I can go on and on about what's wrong with the "rap game", but I'll cut myself off here, and finish with this. Rap and Hip Hop are two different things. Hip Hop is the birth of true expression in music. Where the PERSON rhyming over shadows the music itself. A good Hip Hop song is one that you can remember the words from the 1st bar to the last. Rap is the corporate bastardization of the original art form.

Like how their car's color is peanut butter and jelly. Who gives a fuck!? My car is red grape on red grape! You don't see me rhyming about that and then getting off topic by talking about how I deal drugs, and smack bitches. I like Hip-Hop, but mostly the underground stuff.

The underground stuff IS Hip Hop. It's underground because they can't sell it to stupid, wanna be thug white kids (No offense to any members who might actually BE one of them). There;s an unsigned MC in New York named Nemz. Puerto Rican kat from Coney Island. I've seen in do his thing in person, seen him on battle rap DVDs. The kid spits pure HATRED. I mean this guy goes off on EVERYTHING. Bush, the Rap game, Terrorism, anything under the sun. And he's not polite about it. This dude uses the 5th amendment to the FULLEST extent. Will you ever see him on Rocafella or Def Jam??? HELL NO!!! Because he's raw. Unpolished and uncensored. THAT'S HIP HOP. When you speak from your heart, and with your mind. That's the kind of stuff that I listen to.

Pueblo Beanz Dazzla Fresh D-Rek Flowsion
Just some other unknowns here in NYC. Guys you're probably NEVER seen on a record label, because they're not "Marketable" as Mr. 666 said. Papoose was an MC like that, but since he ended up getting signed, he's losing the edge he had when he was underground. He's a PERFECT example of an MC trying to be a "Rapper".

Hold on there cowboy, we don't need no one cuttin' themselves.
Agreed. Hip Hop is definitely where its at. I can't stand the mumbled "rhymez" of 50 Cent, he's the most annoying piece of feces on the planet. "I have this many cars, I have this many ho's, I got shot nine times". Swear to god if that mother fucker tells me that one more time it'll be 10.
Kanye West, Talib Kweli and Lupe Fiasco are probably my top three current MC's that I enjoy. Ludacris is pretty talented too...he sometimes has rap like elements, but he's a skilled rapper and lyric writer which gains him tons of respect from me.

I don't care what ANYONE sez, Fresh-D is the best battle rapper in NYC. PERIOD. That guy DESTROYED Hell Rell. (One of them sucky ass Diplomats. Last Summer at a club here in NYC, Dip-Set was present during a battle show. Hell Rell came on stage and spit a rhyme. Then Fresh-D came on stage and uncorked a 7 minute freestyle basically beheading the WHOLE Dip-Set crew. Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Santana...ALL OF EM. As much as I try yo find a recording of it...and I KNOW someone had to have recorded it, I can't.)

Best fuckin' MC you'll never ever hear of. Because of the "business" that is the music industry.

All this is good stuff to hear.
Over here, I am mainly a Hip Hop fan now. I used to like Rap and then they just began ruining it. Also I never heard of these MC's you're talking about. By any chase could you give me some of their work?

Sadly, most of these guys you'll here on mixtapes. You can type in there names on Limewire and hop you get lucky, but chances are, you won't. You'd need to hunt down a series of DVD's called "Smack". It's pretty much video taped battle raps. Uncut, raw stuff. As for actual songs, not a chance. lol.
