But looking at it from a non-fan's point of view, I can understand. You're not listening to the song, you're just hearing the song...if that makes any sense. And another point...No music debate can truly be called a debate seeing as how everyone has their own tastes and are often biased lol. |

I too don't really like black metal. Sure they're talented musicians...but how hard is it to drop tune your lead guitar and crank your bass's amp really loud while barring everything and putting tons of static distortion on your instruments. Dream Theater is one of the ONLY progressive metal bands that I enjoy because of their musical talent. Them and Tool. Personally I enjoy more punk (MXPX, The Ramones), emo (Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy), emocore (Atreyu, As I Lay Dying), grunge (Nirvana, Soundgarden), industrial/nu metal (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and lots of other stuff...those are just some ones that have come to mind right now.
*Goes back and listening to Foo Fighters (sidenote: Dave Grohl ftw)*

The only "growl" bands I listen to are KsE, Atreyu (more scream then growl but you get the point), Alexisonfire and um...can't think of any others right now but yeah...I don't mind it but I'm not diehard, bumsecks crazy about it.

For me, I like mostly everything except for most rap. I grew up listening to orchestra music because of being in one. I started listening to rock in my teen years. Bands from Norway like Extol (their 2000 album is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. One of their songs is Shia's theme song.) Also listen to other bands like Living Sacrifice, Soul Embraced. I also can listen to bands like Incubus, Alien Ant Farm (got an awesome bass player. I play bass, hence why I care ). Also fan of P.O.D. before the Satelite album. Some bands like just for the sound like Dimmu Borgir. Not much into the lyrics. Other bands that I like now a days are He is Legend, Underoath, John Mayer's band, Dave Mathews band. I also love movie orchrestra music like the music from Perfect Storm. Just depends on my mood. |
