Or "Yakuza" for my fellow North American friends. I... honestly don't like the North American title and feel the Japanese title fits it better. Its a romanticized tale of the Yakuza, or rather, one particular former Yakuza.
There are four games in the series so far with three (I believe) spin-off titles. Sadly, the spin-off titles have not made it outside of Japan. However, I am happy that the main series has. Perhaps my most beloved beat-em-up title and candidate for the best, in my opinion. Sure, things like Urban Reign or Fists of Vengeance may have a better fighting system, but the story can't compare. Not knocking either game, as I enjoyed both of those.
Ryū ga Gotoku is a little rough around the edges, as is all first games in a series. The fighting is a bit awkward until you can get used to the controls. And, sometimes, the camera can be your worst enemy.
Also, if anyone saw Sega of America's promotion of this game as it being SEGA's answer to the Grand Theft Auto series, please ignore that, Sega of American can not market games worth shit. This game is nothing like GTA.
The first game is the only game that was done with English voices. Which I think is for the best. I usually prefer to hear what they are saying, but for a game like this, I think it being done in Japanese with subtitles fits it best. Makes it feel like what it is supposed to be.
Anyway... I'll link to the first video, as a sample taste, and then link to the Playlist. I've already completed it and am working on the second one.
