.. Is not as fun as I expected it to be. At least from the demo anyway. I'm somewhat... concerned lol
Obviously at this point we know it isn't a wrestling game, it's a fighting game in a wrestling shell. That's what it was intended to be, it's not a simulation. It's not supposed to be realistic. No, those things don't bother me.
The... clunky gameplay mechanics thus far [Keep in mind, demo, only two characters used at this time lol], the extremely fast paced reversal system, which while fun... is somewhat of a double edged sword.
And the issue of button mapping having the same one or two buttons for 7 or 8 context sensitive things, those things bother me. Granted that's changeable in the options. But off the default, it bugs me a bit.
THQ didn't intend this to be a tournament styled fighter in terms of mass balance or this and that. Which is good, cause some fighting games...
Namely, 85% of fighting games these days. End up taking themselves too seriously, with Algebraic-Pokemon styled Mathematical details behind frame rates, shuffle walk speeds, damage stacking tracking etc etc.
So it's nice to see a fighter that's more of just a slap-hazard screw-around kind of experience [Once again, this is from demo impressions, for all I know the full game is supremely deep]
I just guess I'm a bit disappointed by it's easy going style because I've been jaded by the aforementioned foreboding fighting games on the scene.
Should be interesting too see how it all turns out come the 29th.
