Surprises (Justice)

Takes place backstage after the roleplay "Is It Worth It?"

Obviously, things were quite busy now that the 2011 season had finally begun. It was a few weeks before in New York that Justice had suggested that maybe she take this first week off to continue to heal herself up, and to scout Titanisha in the ring without facing her.

It wasn't until the Pre-Game show had aired on a replay before the season premiere though that she found out why it was that Justice made that suggestion.

She had knocked on the door to Justice's hotel room, but got no answer. After checking with reception, she learned Asuka had already made her way to the arena. It was obvious then that Justice was serious about this, and that had Jamie a little bit concerned. Very concerned actually, as she knew firsthand the kind of woman that Titanisha was and the things she would do.

She arrived to the arena in a taxi and made her way through the halls. She stops one of the crew.

Asuka? Justice Asuka? Where's her locker room?

"I saw her warming up over by the catering area. She should still be there it was just a few minutes ago."

Catering area, she thought, yeah...she'll still be there. Asuka had taken a big liking to American food since she got to the country. Jamie had a little something to do with that. She continued to stroll down the hallways and things were in full swing now. Everyone was buzzing. It made her almost want to go against suggestion and jump into the action, but she knew it would worsen her condition. She had to wait, at least another week.

She got some hollistic medicine sent to her by her mother of all people. She believed natural medicine was always more effective than anything a doctor could prescribe. So far it was taking to good effect.

Finally, she reached the area and sure enough, there was Justice, already dressed in her ring gear. Yes, she was very serious.

You're just full of surprises, aren't you Justice?

“Jamie!”

Her focused slowly melted as she beamed from under a white towel draped over her head. Not surprisingly 3 empty pudding cups sat on the table next to her, which also held her elbow pads. She knew Jamie would be looking for her once word got out. But then she had seen Titanisha walking to Fabiola and nature had taken its own course. Just the sight of Titanisha made her blood boil because of the terrible, cowardly thing she had done to Jamie and because of what Titanisha stood for. But now the sight of Jamie Fury made her stronger, she knew she was doing the right thing. She was sure of it.

“I guess I am. But it only made sense. We’re friends and that’s what friends do, Jamie.”

Justice looked up to Jamie.

“You’ve been so kind to me, Jamie. I had to do this.”

Justice stopped a moment, and the dark cloud passed over her face again. That same almost scary kind of intensity she had displayed a short time ago.

“Besides that, it’s like you and Blackheart said. We have to deal with these kind of people face to face, and we have to deal with them now.”

Jamie was right, a hidden tiger lived inside Justice that one would be hard to guess at. Somewhere in that sweet, simple soul was a switch that ignited her life of Joshi wrestling. That Fighting Spirit her people were famous for. Titanisha had obviously flicked that switch with her unprovoked attack on Jamie, and her self centered philosophy. Looking down, Jamie could see Justice had her right foot on top of the same steel chair she had at the backstage interview. She was definitely not taking any chances tonight.

Jamie could only nod in complete agreement, because Justice was right. The only way to stand up against those who would cause hurt or harm is to fight them head on. To show no fear, even if there is some in your heart because somewhere in theirs lies that same fear.

Somewhere in the dealings of this sport, people are compared to gods, monsters and other myths. They're made into these larger than life characters, heroes and villains. In the end though, they're all human beings, with strengths and weaknesses alike. Little by little, Justice was showing her own strength...strength Jamie knew she had. She was just surprised how quickly it took for it to show.

You're right. It has to be done...and we have to be the ones to do it. I didn't come here to try to convince you not to. I came...to cheer you on.

She smiled.

That's what friends do, too.

"Thanks Jamie."

Justice stood up, and put started putting her elbow pads on. Jamie hadn't seen 'working' Justice before. Inside the wrestling ring, Justice was a different person. She's spent her entire life around 'the business' it was like a fish and water equation. Outside? Outside was where her strength faltered like a fish in air. Outside was where Jamie had helped her soo much.

"Don't worry, Jamie."

Justice smiled, and grabbed her steel chair.

"This is all I really know how to do."

She offered up a joking smile, but it was mostly true. This is what Justice Asuka did... besides eat.

It was like watching night turn to day. There was such a overflowing confidence in Justice now that it really took Jamie aback. This was the side of Justice that she indeed didn't see before. The "business" side. There was total focus, complete concentration. Not a single jitter.

She believed in herself, and Jamie did too.

Just be sure you save something for me then, okay "Tiger"?

She used that before, referring to the hidden "tiger" in Justice. Again, in this business it was common to compare people and their actions to that of myths or beasts...but in Justice's case there was some validity to it. Standing there was like watching a metamorphosis happen right before her eyes. In most Asian cultures, the tiger represents strength. That was the tiger in Justice, a hidden strength that had now shown itself.
