As she laid down in this hospital bed, Jamie could feel her back pain a little less than a few hours ago. It had been a day since her apparent show of herculean strength at the Tribute show with Titanisha. Not even she could believe what she was told that she did. They would be checking her out today, but it was standard XWA procedure that after a sustained injury that the doctors run a complete "diagnostic", so she had to stay for at least few hours more. She had visitors of course. Marisol was there very night that Jamie was admitted, and gave the word to Amber who had decided to leave ahead of them. She wasn't upset at her for that. Really, she couldn't blame Amber. Unlike Jamie and Mari, the most popular of The Sensationals didn't have too good of a night. Then there was Justice. She was meaning to hook up with her after the show, there was something she wanted to ask the young girl, but obviously that was side-tracked by a few chair shots. At the table beside her was her Android phone. She reached over to it to check out blogs and email and so-on. Then someone knocked on the door. Oh, someone else? Come on in...She thought it was a nurse or a doctor, but instead it wound up being...

Justice opened the door slowly, peeking in first to see if she had the right room, before coming inside. She's never been in an American hospital before. This was obvious as she looked around, inspecting everything.
"Wow, this is nicer than my apartment back in Japan."
She turned towards Jamie. She looked great, as usual, if not a little bored. Jamie Fury did not appear to be a woman who spent much time sitting around doing nothing. With that thought in mind, she hoisted up a plastic bag filled with various magazines: fashion, sports, body building, organic farming and puppy breeding.
"Here."
She placed them on the little swinging table that was standard issue in all hospital rooms.
"I didn't know the titles or what you liked to read."
She said apologetically.
"Are you okay?"
She asked lightly, it was obvious Fury wasn't knocking on the gate of death or anything even in that neighborhood.

Yeah, Ill be okay...nothing I can't handle. A few more hours and they'll let me go. Though I have to admit that I hope the other girl isn't so lucky.Titanisha. The name continued to ring through her head now. In one fell swoop (or more specifically two), she captured Jamie's full attention. She knew that even after apparently spearing the woman through a wall, that Titanisha would be back. She was going to have to be on her guard. Jamie smiles brightly at her next visitor, trying to take her mind off of her attacker. She reaches over and looked through the magazines, and the cover of one catches her eye. Awww, aren't they cute? I love puppies. So adorable, don't you think?
Anyway, how have things for you been Justice? First US show and all, you have to have gotten some of the jitters out of your system by now, eh?

"Maybe. I'm not sure."
Justice's whole game plan seemed to have been to jump around and hit a big, impressive leg scissors. Instead she didn't really hit much at all until she she started using some close spaced forearms. But then her arms weren't her biggest weapons.
"Everybody stays so close together here. It's really hard to do what I do. It didn't look good."
Justice wasn't being down on herself. That was just a fact. Her performance had been below average at best, even by her own small time standards.
"Yeah, they're cute."
She looked over at the puppy breeding magazine before asking the obvious question.
"How did this to you?"
She knew it wasn't Lilith, because she had been the focus of that psychopathic lesbian's bizarre attentions. She didn't know if Fury had any enemies, or how many they might be in number.

Well, her name's Titanisha, and it's a pretty fitting name.
Jamie paused for a moment, painting a mental picture in her mind of the huge adversary.
She's big. Bigger than me even, but unfortunately, she's not the kind of person who relies on her strength as an advantage. I don't mean the way I don't rely on it. The way I do it, how can I say this...is fair. There's nothing fair about someone who has to hit you from behind.
She's dangerous. Like Lilith, but...a different kind of dangerous. She just wants to hurt people. That's exactly what I heard her say, that she wants to make every Diamond suffer.
I don't know why she chooses to act that way, but I don't care either. She tried to take me out, and doesn't sit too well with me, so when I get the chance, I'm gonna make her pay.
She was angry. She tried not to show it, but she was. Had it not been for Hayley Jonas, there's a good chance that Jamie's hospital visit would have been longer. Maybe even a career threatening injury. For someone to have even tried to take away from her all that she's been able to achieve, for whatever reasons there were, didn't sit well in Jamie's gut at all.
In any case, it's pretty clear that this season, things are going to be pretty serious. We've got to be ready for anything...

Justice could definitely agree with Jamie about that. Just as she had written in her diary, the XWA was not a nice place to be at the moment and the season had not even started yet. To make matters worse, Justice was still figuring out who was who. The Troops show had been filled with people she had never seen before and they were skilled too. It was just another mark against her in the XWA. You can not play the game if you don't know the players. She didn't even know what side she, herself was on. Did she have a side? Did she need one?
"It's..."
Justice thought about it for a second.
"It's very confusing."
She had a firm grasp on the reality of the situation at least.

Sometimes...sometimes it can be.
Jamie could attest to that. Her own mind had been spinning before a crack of folded steel suddenly gave her a slight sense of focus.
Um, Justice? I'm really glad you came by you know. There was something that I wanted to tell you, or ask you I guess.
You're a good woman. I can tell just from the short amount of time I've been around you. You can make it here, I know you can and...I want to help you get there. Things are confusing now, but that's because there's some things you don't know...about this country, about how the business is in this country. About...
...who knew what else? All she knew was that Justice Asuka had come to the US on a whim, and there was so much that she didn't know about her, but what she did was enough to make Jamie believe in her. She had courage. She had drive. With those in place, there was no limit to what she could do...with the right person around her.
Hmmm...Justice, I wanted to know if you maybe wanted to "hang with me". You know, instead of you traveling on your own and all that. I can show you things, help you get better in the ring, that kind of stuff. I guess...be kind of a...mentor type person?
She felt a little awkward asking this. She pressed the edge of her index finger to her lips for a second.
I'm just...kinda sold on you. You remind me of another Japanese woman I had the pleasure of working with. Nobody gave her a shot to be anybody, but she pulled it off. I think, one day...you can be better than her. One day, you'll probably be talked about like Tadako, or even Oichi.
Thing is, you can't get there on your own, because they didn't either. Nobody ever does it on their own, and I wanna help you get there, and be comfortable with yourself while you do it.

"Wow"
Was all Justice could say at first, before she looked back at Jamie.
"She hit you really hard, didn't she?"
Justice was only half joking. Talked about like Tadako? Oichi!? That was the most ridiculous thing she had heard in her young life. A legend, and then... she didn't even know what Oichi was. What came after Legend? If that wasn't ridiculous enough, and it was more than enough, the XWA Diamond Champion was offering to mentor her. It was just the kind of thing she needed. It was just the kind of thing she had been writing about in her diary. Something that could change who Justice was.
"But... look... I'm not anything like them, Jamie. I mean, you're great and you've been really nice to me. Really nice, and yeah."
She wasn't really good at expressing her feelings without jumbling up every other word and looking away. But she made herself look back.
"I mean, I'll be okay. You have enough problems. You're in the hospital and people..."
She was trying to make a good excuse, but she wasn't the best liar either. She finally let out an exasperated sigh.
"Look..."
No that wasn't it either.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what to say. But you said it yourself, I'm awkward with myself and I'm in over my head and I desperately want your help. But, I can't accept charity and I have nothing to give you in return. You have everything."
That wasn't exactly right, but it was pretty close. Justice was sensitive about being helped out, human pride. She tried to think of anything she could give in return. Money? A puppy? Sweep the floors? Did Jamie have floors? She had no clue.

That reminds me of something my mother once told me. "Having everything is never as great as giving everything, because if you don't then you truly have nothing".
She says a lot of really cool things like that.
Her mother was a proud Cherokee woman, proud of her daughter even though she chose to stay living where she had lived for Jamie's entire childhood, living a much simpler life. She had shared many pearls of wisdom to Jamie, wisdom she carried with her always.
Jamie winced a bit as she repositioned herself sitting up on the bed. There was still some discomfort, but she figured it would pass. She looks right into Justice's eyes and smiles. She wore her nervousness like a scarf. It was endearing, but it could also be a burden. Jamie knew this, it was why she even thought the idea up. She didn't want to stand by and let this girl fail in what she had came so far to do, or worse, be someone's prey, or worse...be another forgotten face as wrestling had so many of.
I'm not asking for anything in return, because I'll already be getting something in return. A new friend. Someone else to share this whole experience with. You know, we're really lucky to be doing what we're doing. It's important to make good memories out of it all.

"Okay." ;D
Justice was really happy. This was just what she needed to change herself. It was just what she was looking for. But she didn't accept Jamie's 'friendship is enough' speech. No, Justice was going to help Jamie as much as Jamie helped her. She was going to show her that she made a good choice in picking her. Justice didn't say anything though. Talk was extremely cheap in the XWA and very abundant. No, she wasn't going to say anything.
"I'll do my best, really."

This was probably the best "feel good" moment in as many hours for either woman really. Jamie was all smiles, but...how to actually celebrate the occasion? Maybe a hug would probably be too awkward. At the very least, too early. Instead, Jamie reached out her hand to Justice and nods as she says I know you will.
