If you count the... horrid [In my opinion anyway] Spin off 'action adventure' titles of the series, then this new MK Reboot is the 12th video game in the franchise. To be perfectly honest, I was never a hardKore [See what I did thar] fan of the series. But I am quite excited about it, tis coming out in April. Projected release dates vary from April 1st to April 12th.

The only question remains is...

Which version?

There is the Standard version. Just the game. 59.99$

'Kollectors Edition' featuring, the game, obviously. A code for the 'Klassic' Scorpion and his original Fatality. Access to the MK 'Widget' which gives rare videos including one of all fatalities. High detailed bookends featuring the poster children Sub-Zero and Scorpion in serrrriously high rendered fashion. They are quite nice. Retro ninja outfit. Exclusive in-game outfits based on traditional character designs. Psn/Xbox live avatar stuff from the game. And the Art of MK a 110 page book featuring like... all art lol 99.99$

Tournament Edition. Game. Same Klassic Scoprion details, outfit and fatality. Same widget. Then it all goes up or down pending your preference. Same retro ninja outfits, Psn/Xbox live stuffs. And of course, what makes it the Tournament Edition. The tournament, stick. Suzo Happ arcade designed pieces. Open lid for storage. Retro wooden box of the 'Golden Age of Gaming'. However... the stick itself will not be the same quality as those who have SF4/SSF4/MVC3 Fight Sticks. Or anyone who's a lucky enough bastard to have sticks from EVO tourneys. So it is a nice edition, and it is quite the looker. The idea of being able to open it up and store things easier or even EDIT PARTS is a huge plus considering the beginning quality. It isn't garbage or anything but it's not like top top top of the line. On the other hand. It's 149.99$.

Aside from all that though. I'm just waiting to hear 'FINISH HIM' once again before being able to throw someone into an oncoming train or the famous upppppppaaaaaahhhcutttttuuuuu of doom into the pit of spikey hell. Klassic times. Klassic times. ;D

Plus, for those GoW fans out there... Kratos. Dun dun dun. I hope his Fatality involves impaling someone on his blades then having Aphrodite someone rip their junk out. It'd be cool to me. And over the top. I like it.

I'm excited for the new MK. ;D

I'm just hoping they don't royally screw it up this time like they did before with pointless characters and terrible stories. The game looks solid. They've returned back to the 2D, which is good. I just hope the game is a lot smoother than their originals. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I play some of the older games... I just get the Hell kicked out of me because the fighting was so stiff. Moreso with MK2 (since that's the one I downloaded off the PSN ) that I've been playing. I hope they smooth out the gameplay because I'd hate to pass on this game.

I'll give it a rent before making any purchases. And I'll probably get the Standard version, if I like it because I'm not really a big fan of using the arcade controllers. I'm much better with the D-pad, despite the thumb blisters I get from hardcore fighting gaming.

And Kratos being in is pretty cool. This is a better fit for him than being in Soul Calibur.

I will probably just get the basic version of the game. IMHO if the stick doesn't have Official Sanwa or Samitsu parts it's not worth the extra cost.

Yeah the lack of Sanwa did kinda get to me, but considering the ability to edit it... if you choose to void the warranty and such... if anything, I'll probably get the Kollectors Edition. The bookends are just... snazzy lol

Then again, normal Sanwa fightsticks can be in the 300's. 150 + tax for a game with bonuses and a.. relatively, good stick at it's core is not thaaaaat bad. The SF4 fightstick I have I got for 100 clean at my EB cause it was 'used'. Hardly. Still came in the original fightstick collectors edition box and has the certificate of authenticity. Then again, if you have the knowledge to edit yourself, just buy parts online for cheap and make it all super fantastic.

I'm probably gonna try before I buy on this one. After MK3 I was totally turned off on the franchise, so I'm one of those who're a little apprehensive about the longevity of this reboot compared to say...the Tomb Raider reboot. Then there was that more urban setting "movie" trailer that hit last year that made me think THAT was the reboot and had me amped up, only to learn it was just a short film/attempt to get a movie made of it. That kinda pissed me off cuz it was so creatively done.

So yeah, the verdict's still out for me on this one. I'll be reading the reviews and watching the YT vids bound to pop up, and see whether this is worth the time.

That, I'm looking forward to then, now that I'm hearing it. But this game had better deliver. If it tanks, then the MK franchise might as well jump off into that spiked pit itself, because it'll officially be dead.

It is a high risk indeed. But even if it does fail we have MVC3 to fall back on. I personally also have ME2 and DA2 when it comes out, to use as distractions. Then WWE All Stars in late March as well. [Wicked cool, fighting game ala WWE universe. FTW on overtly roid'd outlook] I'm in no shortage lol.

Off topic, but once I saw that promo vid of the Macho Man, I was officially sold on All-Stars. How lucky were we to have grown up watching the likes of him as opposed to say...majority of the current WWE, lol.

Anyways, I said last year was the year of the fighting game, cuz we got SSF4 & Tekken 6, but this year's gonna be even bigger.

Yep yep. Not just a big year for fighters but a big year for gamers period.

When I saw the Macho Man clip it made me realize... like, seriously... they're human, ya know? You see them do all of these insane things, which if you're like me you've tried to imitate. Which leads to long term health problems, super cool. But... he's so old. There's liver spots on his forearms, he has a full beard of Gray. They age. They are human. They seem unstoppable or invincible on camera and even with injuries you tend to wonder is it a scripted one because they just got married or had another kid etc etc..

But they're human. Tis deep. Tis deep.

On a more important and uplifting note. I so wanna fuck people up with Mileena again. FTW. Gnaw at some bitches with those choppers.
