Bio:
Romeo was born into the Davis family on March 4, 1986. He was given the name Romeo Tyler Davis with his middle name coming from his father’s first name. He was born into a just above middle class family with his father, Tyler, being a soccer coach at a local college and his mother, Monika, a nurse at the local hospital. He was born the youngest of two with his sister, Ashley, being two at the time of Romeo’s birth.
Romeo was a smart kid who loved to play sports. Of course his favorite sport was soccer with his father being a soccer coach, but he also enjoyed playing football and basketball. His favorite sports teams were the Los Angeles Galaxy, Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. In high school he played soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter. In the spring he would often play pick up football with his friends and family. During his junior year of high school there was another sport that had interested him. That sport was wrestling. It first interested him when he started watching it on TV every night it was on whether it was the WWE or the TNA. It quickly started growing on him. He told his father that wrestling had interested him and that he wanted to start taking classes. His father wasn’t as intrigued as he was by the whole wrestling idea. His father told him that he should focus on school, soccer, and basketball and just leave wrestling alone. Romeo was angered by this but being the obedient one, he listened to his father and focused on school, soccer, and basketball.
Romeo knew that he wanted to wrestle and didn’t want to take no from an answer from his father. Throughout his junior year of high school he continued to ask his father to wrestle and finally one day his father gave in and let him wrestle. So in his senior year instead of playing basketball he wrestled for his schools team. Romeo surprised himself with how good he was going undefeated in his senior year. He knew from that moment on he wanted to professionally wrestle but he was going to go to college first.
He was offered a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina for soccer and that’s where he decided to go. Since soccer and his Athletic Training major were so demanding he decided not to wrestle for his college. Though he didn’t wrestle for the school he found a local gym about ten minutes from the campus that trained wrestlers. This is where he learned a few different wrestling styles but the one he liked the most was the brawling wrestling style. So along with school and soccer he continued to wrestle on the side.
Four years later Romeo would graduate from UNC with a degree in athletic training. He had also set the school record for the most goals scored in the four years he was there. He could have gone into the Super Draft and played in the MLS but he chose not to. He knew was his goal was and that was to become a professional wrestler. So a few months after graduation he ended up finding a business that he wanted to join. He thought he had enough training to join a business and get his career started but when it came time to sign his contract, he choked. He backed out and told the owner of the business that he wasn’t ready to join a business. He decided that he needed more training to give him the confidence he needed to join a wrestling business. So after this he went back home to California and told his parents that he wanted more training. His father knew what he needed to do and sent Romeo to Rome to get more training.
Excited and ready to train, Romeo packed his bags and left for Rome. Rome is where he had gotten his major technical and submission training. He had learned so much from the Roman wrestlers. He had stayed there for a year and it was the most grueling year of his life. He woke at five o’clock every morning to begin training that ended at seven at night. It truly was intense but Romeo put in the hard work and got a lot out of it. So with the great technical skill he had learned put together with his brawling style had made him somewhat of a force. After spending that year in Rome, Romeo returned to the states. He continued training but also believed that he was now ready for a wrestling career. His mother, father and sister all believed in him and wanted to see him succeed. This is when Romeo found out about the Xtraordinary Wrestling Association. He signed with the business and now it was time to work even harder.
Romeo would then make his debut at the XWA pay per view known as March Madness. Here he would wrestle the man known as Tank. The match was well fought for both competitors and went on for quite some time. In the end Romeo had won the match after hitting his finisher which he called “The RD Factor.” He had won his first career match and that gave him a nice confidence booster. Romeo would then go on to defeat A.J. Ryder and Steve Toreno improving his rookie year record to 3-0. His first loss would then come at the pay per view Vendetta to Bryan Jasta with the XWA National Championship on the line Romeo thought he was ready to roll with the big boys but quickly realized that he bit off more than he could chew. After losing the match Romeo knew that it was time that he stepped up his game. Soon after at the MAYDAY pay per view, Romeo would go onto defeat the well known Godlieve Van Der Sar. After the match GVDS and Primo would attack Romeo sparking his first career feud within the XWA.
Romeo wanted to get revenge for what Primo and GVDS by calling out Primo to a match. He would only get GVDS because he was angered that he had lost to Romeo. Romeo and GVDS would have another match where Romeo came out the winner once again. Romeo would call Primo out again this time getting a match against him. In this match Primo would defeat Romeo with ease. Romeo wasn’t going to let that happen and wanted more shots at Primo. He would once again get GVDS who was still angered after the two losses to Romeo. There would be another match between the two with this time GVDS picking up the win. After this Romeo knew that things were over with GVDS and it was time to deal with Primo again. He would call out Primo again looking for another match to end everything once and for all. Primo would agree to have a match only if Romeo was to beat a handpicked opponent. Romeo would agree and his opponent was the undefeated Finesse. Romeo would win that match earning him another shot at Primo. The match was decided to be a first blood match. After a long grueling match at Solstice, Romeo would end up busting Primo wide open and winning the match finally defeating one of his rivals.
The win over Primo would lead Romeo to challenge Magnus Von Schwartz for the XWA Pure championship. Romeo would fail to capture the title in that match. After the match Magnus offered Romeo another shot at the title since he thought that the two had a great match. The second time around Romeo would capture his first championship gold. Romeo would go on to defend the title two times and end the season as the XWA Pure champion. At the end of the season Romeo was names the XWA New Sensation of the Year.
Romeo would begin the 2009 on the right foot by defending the Pure title twice against MG and Tommy Tryton. After this he would lose the title to Chris Dynamite and also injuring his neck during the match. 2009 didn’t turn out the way he wanted it to being out for some of with neck and wrist injuries and also not performing to the best of his ability.
During the 2010 season things changed drastically for Romeo Davis. After suffering another neck injury at the hands of his friend Sushi-X, Romeo lost his cool and vowed to get revenge on Sushi-X. He believes that purposely injured him and knew that some day he would get even with him. Throughout the course of the end of the 2010 season, Romeo and Sushi-X would wrestle each other in various matches until their last match of the 2010 where Romeo would defeat Sushi-X in a Last Man Standing match and capture the XWA No Limits championship. Then proceeding that victory, Romeo would go on to join the Upper Echelon. Romeo and Sushi-X were due to wrestle in another match at XGames 4 but due to another "injury" Romeo suffered outside the wrestling ring, the match was cancelled.
No one can tell what's in store for Romeo Davis this coming season in 2011. Will he ever return to his normal self? Not much has been heard from Romeo during this offseason. All that is known is that he returned home to Venice Beach, California for a several weeks to nurse a so called knee injury and to spend time much needed time with his family.
