A New Path (Diamond Title)

As XGAMES continued on, the announce team were notified by the broadcast booth that Carmella Blackheart herself was asking for some pre-empted airtime.

Goldman: Okay, folks...we're receiving word now that XWA President Carmella Blackheart is standing by with some form of announcement. Ms. Blackheart, you have the floor...

And backstage inside of an office somewhere in the arena, she sat with Diamond Championship sitting beside her, much to the surprise of all.

Thank you Michael. It pains me to inform you all that in light of certain administrative issues, Okami Hawaito has parted ways with the XWA. As result of this decision, the Diamond Championship has been vacated for the second time in it's lineage. As unfortunate as this may be, it does open up a new opportunity for the Diamonds of XWA. Okami exemplified a poise and grace both in the ring and out of the ring that is respected and dearly will be missed. We wish her the best in her future, but with that said...the circumstances have led me to having a #1 contender, but not a champion to contend.

So tonight, we will crown a new Diamond Champion in a match declared by me between the OTS Women's winner Sonya Robbins, and the former Diamond Champion, Jamie Fury.

The crowd's response changes now from a solemn hush to a roar of excitement.

Given the history between these two women, I expect for this to be a evenly fought and entertaining match. One that I'm sure will do this title justice. The best female wrestlers in the world have called themselves Diamond Champion, and tonight that distinction will hold true once again.

The announcers then weigh in this startling development.

Buzz: Wow, that was unexpected. This sure is an unpredictable business, isn't it?

Goldman: Indeed partner, but credit Ms. Blackheart for being resourceful enough to give these fans another amazing main event here tonight. So now it will be Jamie Fury with a chance once again to redeem the Diamond Title against one of the only two women on the planet to have beaten her 1-on-1, Sonya Robbins...

Buzz: Yeah, this is gonna be a wicked good match here. I wonder how these ladies are going to react to this though?

Goldman: You won't have to wait long to find out. I'm receiving word now that we will here from both Jamie & Sonya later on tonight.

Buzz: Awesome...

Later on in the broadcast, Fabiola stood in the interview area alongside the former champion. Still in a her street clothes, she had just gotten the news of her appointed rounds for the night.

Fab: I'm standing by now with the former Diamond Champion Jamie Fury, and just moments ago you were informed of the status of that title and the fact that now it'll be you facing Sonya Robbins tonight for it. What are your thoughts?

Well, I'm shocked really. When I heard that Okami was no longer a part of this company, it made me sad to be honest with you. She was a rare gem in this cutthroat business, a woman of integrity, honor and class. I thought she had the poise to be a champion for a long time, but I guess sometimes things change, and you have to change with the times.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting this at all. I was in Chicago if you re-call, and I extended a challenge to another woman who's apparently left the company, to give the fans the dream match they've always wanted to see on the grandest stage of them all. That challenge was never accepted, and sadly we'll never see that history be made...but we still can see history be made in another way though, because by the grace of Ms. Carmella Blackheart, I have the chance to do what she, and what no other woman in the world has done.

Become the Diamond Champion for the third time.

Fab: A win tonight here would actually make you the first 3-time World champion in the XWA of either gender, how's that for history? Of course, the only thing stopping you is the only other woman to have ever beaten you, Sonya Robbins.

A fact that I'm not overlooking. To get here, she had to win three matches in one night against the best the Diamond Division has to offer, and she pulled it off. There aren't too many women in this business who are as tough as Sonya is. Her victory against me was no fluke, but at the same time Sonya, while I know you've only gotten better, tougher, so have I. And with as much at stake tonight as there is, you better bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to give every ounce of fight in me out in that ring.

One way or another Fab, just as the slogan says, the best...tonight...will be saved for last.

With a confident smile on her lips, she steps away from the camera to prepare for what could be a history making evening.

Later on in the night again, Fab now had the #1 contender standing beside her for her reaction to the announcement of Carmella Blackheart.

Fab: Back here again now with the woman sometimes described as the "pitbull", Sonya Robbins. You heard it earlier from President Carmella Blackheart, it's you versus Jamie Fury tonight for the vacated Diamond Championship. What're your thoughts?

Well, first off I say you can strategy and throw it out of the window. Here I thought I was going to be in that ring against the quick-like-a-fox masked Japanese chick, and now it's instead the strong-like-an-ox Native American chick instead. Doesn't really phase me though, because I know what I've got to do to come on top tonight, and that's just like Fury said earlier squeeze every ounce of fight out of me.

Fab: You sound very confident...

Why shouldn't I be? I'm the 2010 OTS winner aren't I? The first time ever they gave us girls as shot at the tournament, and I have the honor of being to first to win it. Wasn't easy either I tell you. If I may borrow a few notes from the recently departed...this is a journey. I've been on that journey for almost 7 years now. I wrestled long before I ever set foot in the XWA, and I studied karate long before that. I know all about the sacrifices you put your body through and the rewards you get from it, cuz I've done it for the better part of my life. It all comes down to this moment in time here tonight, and the only thing that's running through my head right now is..."is this really my time?"

Fab: Would you care to explain that?

Just being here, in the position I'm in to earn what I have the chance to earn. The Diamond Title isn't just gift-wrapped and handed to anyone, it's earned. Tonight I have to earn it by defeating for all intents and purposes the best female wrestler on the planet today, knowing full well that she's coming at me like a bull in a china closet to regain that title. She's been in this situation before. The main event...all eyes on you, all the pressure on you, she's knows how it is. I don't. This is my first time, my first chance to become Diamond Champ, and with the competition here I know I might not have too many more chances, so I have to make the most of this one.

But there's one thing that's motivating me right now though, Fabiola.

Fab: And what's that?

What Ms. Blackheart said earlier tonight. It rings true to this day. "The best female wrestlers in the world have called themselves Diamond Champion." Winning tonight would make me the Diamond Champion. Winning tonight would mean beating the best female wrestler in the world for the second time, and in doing so being the only woman in the world to pull that off twice, so winning tonight would make it loud and proud that at XGAMES 4, Sonya Robbins reached that next plateau. She's not just a good wrestler anymore, she's one of the great ones. And that just brings me back to the question again..."Is it my time?"

I guess tonight, we'll all see for ourselves, won't we?

It would be a question that would have a clear answer by the end of the night. Sonya then retreated from the camera to prepare for this match, as equally important to the would-be champion as it is for the former one.
