Shortly following his debut as TakeDown's new General Manager at Ring Rage, Chris Lionheart sat down with The1XWA.net for an interview, promising an exclusive surprise that we would hear first:
Lionheart on Kim Hunter's trade:
"Well, the first thing I did back on the scene was to set up the block-buster trade of Kim Hunter being traded to TakeDown for Blade Meyers being shipped off to OverLoad. To my understanding Blade had already been wanting to switch brands, so I thought it was only fair for TakeDown to get something from OverLoad in return. Although Kim was, as usual, a little difficult at first she came to TakeDown in the end. No doubt I'll have an ear bashing from her sometime soon that I cost her a shot at the Pearl Title. But that's fine by me. Anything to give Kim an incentive to prove herself once more. If her missing out on the Pearl title makes her push herself even harder towards capturing TakeDown's Diamond title, then to me the ends justify the means."
In addressing the recent talent movement Lionheart had this to say:
"Talking of the talent movement, when one looks at Buliwyf and Khryst as well as Kris Cade, Tommy Tryton and Blade Myers all moving to OverLoad and TakeDown only getting Kim Hunter in return, things look a little lopsided for sure. That's a 5:1 ratio. I don't want to get into any conspiricy theory stuff, but yeah some might 'call it a questionable move', to quote the previous news piece, because that's just a bit unbalanced, right?
Luckily for XWA, and TakeDown, I've never been one to shy away from a challenge. Even when orders are coming down from up top that 'OverLoad wrestlers are on OverLoad for a reason'. That might be so, and if Overload GM Stan O'Malley is to be beleived that reason is because it is "in the best interest of the wrestlers". Well that's fine and dandy, I wish those talents well, I'm just sorry I wasn't around sooner to improve the quality of the departed wrestlers on TakeDown, like Blade Meyers whom is a former Pure Rules title holder."
<Lionheart is joined in our interview by TakeDown's newest competitor, in a shock announcement.>
"The thing is I knew someone that was on Overload whom is a fierce competitor too when he has the opportunity to be. Someone who wanted an opportunity to shine, but felt overlooked and closed out by his peers on Overload. In his own words "There's not much good being in the No Limits division if they are going to ignore me and not let me in a match or anything to build a foot hold in it." Yes, I have scouted this man elsewhere before returning to XWA, and I know what he can do, having seen it up close and personal. I know he is fearless and not afraid to cross the line into TakeDown waters. He showed that much at Ring Rage. He felt 'tested' by his opponent and holds his mic work, and in-ring abilities in high regard. That's why he is coming to be apart of TakeDown. Chris Dynamite, TakeDown's newest talent, Daisuke Tsuyuki, has asked me a translate a message just for you... "We're not finished!""
To close out the interview, Lionheart simply set the tone for how he wanted 'his' TakeDown to be.
"I get told to not bother with Overload wrestlers. I get told the 5:1 talent swap is in the interest of the wrestlers. To that I go out and find a talent who wants to be on TakeDown. One that surprises everyone in XWA from the very top, to the bottom. If I can promise you one thing for TakeDown, it is that much like my career, it is going to become very exciting and very unpredictable. Keep watching!"
