It was the United Center in Chicago. TakeDown was in full swing, and the XWA's President & CEO was in the building. If this wasn't the perfect time to make some waves, no other time would their ever be.
Robby Sylk rolled into the arena and his first stop was going to be the venue's offices where Carmella Blackheart was sure to be. He doesn't even bother to knock, entering and asserting himself immediately.
Long time no see Ms. Blackheart. You and I need to have a little chit-chat.

Sylk's hasty entrance just as quickly catches the attention of Carmella who was at a desk watching the show progress from a monitor. She slowly reclines back into her chair, running an index finger over her chin.
Really? And what exactly is there for us to "chit-chat" about then, Robert? I assume it has something to do with last week, hmm?
Obviously. That wasn't one of your...brighter...moments. I'm all ears.

Robby felt a little sting from Carmella's comments, pertaining to his being pinned in the tag match he had competed in. The story on Carmella Blackheart was that she could befit her last name masterfully, and that subtle antagonizing was proof. Sylk swallowed hard and sighed slightly before he answered back.
Yes. Last week didn't go quite the way Jeremy and I planned for it to go and...we want to set things the right way. A rematch here tonight, Jeremy and I one more time against Jon Payne & XXL. You're the one who can make it happen, so make it happen!

Hmm, set things the right way you say? The way that you allegedly orchestrated the attack on Syrus that basically made what could have been a classic World Title match into a one sided beating?
There was some added bass in her voice, that really sinister "I'm about to ruin your life" kind of bass.
See, I've been meaning to have a word with you as well, Robert. That little stunt affected what could have been an epic World Title match, and while it might have been good for your ego, it was bad for my business.
She slowly leans forward into her seat.
And I HATE when people do things that're bad for my business, you understand? Personally, I was very satisfied with the outcome of that match, having had Payne beat you down so badly that XXL just pinned you out of mercy. So satisfied was I that yes...I'll let you have your rematch tonight in hopes that after they scrape you from the mat again, you come to the realization that in the end, it's all about what's good for business.

You know something? Sometimes, what's "good" for business isn't what's "good" for certain individuals. Payne said it himself last week, "in war there are casualties". If he only knew...
Sylk chuckles to himself some.
...but if it's business you want...if it's ratings you're looking for, tonight you're going to like what you see. Or then again, maybe not.
Like you said in the ring earlier though, tonight's going to be VERY interesting.
There was confidence on the grin of Sylk's chin as he turned around to exit the office.

Word came down pretty quickly of the newly booked tag rematch. XXL got word just as he entered the United Center from a crew member and without any hesitation went straight to the locker area to get himself ready.
Dressed for action now, he set out to warm up for the match. The area was empty backstage, which may not have been a good thing at all. XXL started to stretch his muscles out, but then had a sudden and funny feeling that he was being watched somehow.
His intuition unfortunately wasn't fast enough. Before he could fully turn his head...
WHACK!!!
A steel pipe swung around and nailed him right in the head. Everything went black and XXL crumpled over to the floor, a gash opened up on his forehead. The culprit looked down at his dirty work and dropped the weapon to the ground only feet away, traces of Luther's blood trickling from it. By the time anyone would find XXL, it'd be too late to stop what else was going to happen from taking place.
