Cory Ledesma Interview
www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4MK7YEtkAg&feature=channel
Overview of what was said in the videos:
-Revised grapple system. From what I understand, You go into those chain holds off of weak grapples instead of strong ones, and strong ones can only be done when the opponent is groggy.
-The opponent no longer needs to be in a groggy state in order for you to hit a finisher.
-Finisher's can now be done from multiple situations. (The example Bryan gives is a standing codebreaker for Jericho, or a running one. same goes for the RKO and other moves.)
-There's a new Tree of Woe position to put a wrestler in when they're on the corner.
-Corner moves have also been revised. Regular grapples only give you weaker moves. Superplexes and other stuff require you to put the opponent on the top rope yourself, rather than the animation doing it automatically.
-this might have been stated in a previous interview, but when you get to the top of the ladder you can position yourself which direction you want to jump off instead of constantly doing moves in the wrong direction like previous years.
-A few more submissions (including the ankle lock as a struggle submission)
-about 100-150 new moves
-Bryan stated that the new physics system will apply to all matches, including backstage matches and possibly more realistic physics involving Cage/HIAC matches.
-Bryan hinted about an additional customization feature that fans (including himself) have been wanting in the series for a long time. all he said was it involves the wrestlers as well as the environment.
-A new position for Create-a-Finisher (Bryan hinted about the Chaos Theory being creatable, so it sounds like it will be a back position).
-Both Bryan and Cory acknowledges 2010's horrible online, and both claim that it will be improved this year.
-Cory states that the inability to edit downloaded caws was something the staff wasn't happy about and claim that they're working on fixing that issue.
-Cory mentioned that they're considering letting the divas compete in more match types, but it's kind of a struggle to do that with their need for the game to be realistic AND to please WWE's standards.
-The Miz will not have as low an overall as he did last year, thankfully.

We talked with Bryan and Cory with exclusive video interviews with a ton of info. Here is some of the stuff that we gathered from talking with Bryan off camera. 1, is that there is no longer strictly pin moves like the Batista Bomb and the Fishermen Suplex. When you perform one of those moves a onscreen icon will flash giving you the option to either go with the pin or go directly to the non pin version of the move.
that's pretty much everything.
My Impressions from "Bryan Williams E3 Interview".
This whole different grapple dynamic sounds simillar to how I remember the very early smackdowns games being (I remember SD JBI had this very clearly). Three 'levels' of grappling.
- Level One is the regular 'level one quick grapples' where opponent isn't groggy and you hit a move without grappling them first. These would be the 'quick grapples' of SVR game territory.
- Level two would be where the opponent is beaten up a little and groggy/dazed on their feet. Again hit the move without having to grapple them first, if I recall correctly.
- Level three used to be (for example, where you would raise them off the ground into this position) where you had hold of your opponent's head in a grapple stance, and then executed the move.
The finishing move changes (not having to make opponents groggy first) sounds good in theory. One the one hand in simmed matches it should add some of that surprise factor back into the matches (now we just need 'will this submission make him tap?', eh Showtime?), instead of the usual 'boring, a.i. just hit a 'toe kick' finisher time' that we have now. On the other hand, I can see if being wildly abused in online matches - although I suppose this doesn't affect simmed efeds.
Not having to have a grapple stance before hitting a move later-on in the match sounds incredibly limiting to movesets? Lemme see if I can work this out here...
Four grapple stances at the start of the match (if like 2010's quick grapples from behind these will be sucky small moves), and we'll get to pick four of these for each grapple stance. Then we get 8 stong grapple moves which no longer require a grapple stance. What? hit by choosing up, down, left, right, and each diagonal? That's 8 strong moves as opposed to the 16 we get currently, 4 for each 'strong grapple stances'.
Corner grapple changes doesn't sound anything special... sounds a little boring to play if you ask me. I mean, he starts the interview talking about how they've tried to cut away steps in positioning things and doing things, they says they've added more to the corner grapples? Aren't high flying matches supposed to be fast and furious? On a sort-of side note here with the chopping up of canned animations into 'new' moves. Does anyone else HATE some of the new move animations in SVR2010 or is it just me? What the FUCK did they do to RVD's 'ECW Diving Kick', and why do most of the aerial moves, like Booker's Houston Hangover look sooo 'Jerky?', is that the right word to use? These greatly animated moves from past games got BUTCHERED in my opinion.
Submissions not submitting unless they're Struggle Submissions really bites. At least they got a few more of them in there, especially the Ankle Lock. (Hopefully the Cripple Crossface too). Time? is the excuse? Whatever, don't lie to me. You had a working Sub A/Sub B system worked out in SVR07 before you started fannying around limiting moveset options with your Fighting Styles and Abilities. Hell SVR06 had 'Sub C' moves as I call them, with things like the sleeper hold that could put you out if your hand dropped three times. C'mon efedders, you know that was an awesome mini-game. JUst about the only one I ever liked, aside from SVR06's 'both men are down, who'll get up first' mini-game.... Just a second, lemme find where I put my SVR06... Anway, back to the submissions, that this guy says they had the ankle lock and other struggle submission moves ready to go last year but 'time' got in the way, leaves me some hope for 2012 that it'll have all submissions able to make people tap. You know, like how the original SVR could have had Create-A-Belt and the FBI stable, but both got taken out? Can I ask... does anyone else find it a little... SAD that I'm holding out hope for something I used to have in these games and take for granted to be put back in?
100-150 new moves? Lets see upon my rental which ones of these are alternate versions of already existing moves, moves put back in from older games, re-animations etc. Honestly, I'd be fine for old moves to come back, and stay back. It doesn't sound likd you'll be able to use many of them in a match anymore anyway if I've understood the new grapple system.
Created Finisher's new position being one of their new positions leads me to belive it's 'in the corner' created finishers, personally.
