1. - went online to ps3's website and registered an account with them. - created a profile on my brother's old ps3 (now mine). Didn't ask for email or address or anything though. - logged onto psn and it asked for a date of birth only.
Should I be worried? Have I missed out a step somewhere in terms of 'linking together' my profile on the console and my online account?
2. Are 'minis' in the psn screen = game demos?
3. I'm not going to mess anything up (like console registration/usage restrictions) by deleting my brother's old profile, am I?

1. PSN accounts are associated by email. If you created it on the PS3 website, then it's already done. It's the same account between both. You would have only needed to input more info creating the account on your PS3 if that was were you were initially making the account. No need to worry, you're good.
2. I have no idea what minis are. I don't ever use them, so I wouldn't be able to tell you.
3. No. The only thing your bro will lose from you deleting his account off that PS3 is the game data he has on it, which I assume he transferred to his new one. (If he hasn't I'd advise you let him do so before you delete it.) All of his other data, trophies, DLC purchases and so on are linked to his PSN ID. So he can create it on any other PS3 and be able to access his PSN data.

Thanks. A few further questions if I may...
4. He appears to have stuck a load of music tracks and videos onto the PS3 hardrive somehow (at least I can't see any sort of memory card/usb drive etc sticking out of the console) How did he do this?
5. I don't really relish the thought of going through every music track, pressing triangle, pressing delete, confirming delete. Any way to get rid of them all quickly?
6. I noticed the PS3 got quite hot on the 'back' of the machine after a short period of time (30mins-1hour I'd guess), cause to be worried?
7. Can I stand the PS3 upright like a Wii? Slim model I think, a 250GB one.

I helped him with this one already You have a PS3, why don't you answer some of his questions, eh? Anywayz... 4. The USB ports are on the left side of the font of the console. The same ports you plug the USB cord to charge your controllers. 5. You can delete all media individually or by folder. I don't know how he has his media stored, but you can choose the folders and delete them in bulk. 6. If you have the slim, it's nothing to worry about. The fan on the slim is smaller then the fat version, so it's going to get hot regardless. You should let the system rest every 3 or so hours just to be safe. 7. Yes you can.

Thanks for help guys en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XrossMediaBar#XMB_color_schemesWhat a stupid fucking feature! I thought my brother's PS3 had fucked up and gotten the entire 'dashboard' stuck on the 'sickly green' colour that flashes up when you hover over the PSN menu's What's New option, instead of turning black again. I quickly turned the color to white and the brightness to -3 to get a white on black look again, lol!
