Scott O'Dell's new theme "Chlorine" by The Bleeding Skies plays over the PA. As he steps out from backstage, boos fill the arena as they usually do upon his arrival. Sporting a stylish black suit and aviator sunglasses, the reigning "Heel Of The Year" makes his way to the ring, smirking and exchanging pleasantries to the Vancouver fans. He pauses at the foot of the ramp to soak in the "adoration" being bestowed upon him before continuing up the ring steps. Inside of the ring, O'Dell's handed a mic from ringside. He takes off his sunglasses, placing them in the inside pocket of his blazer before beginning his address.
Ihad a whole, drawn out speech I was ready to say when I heard at the top of the show that I was facing Van Hayden tonight. But you know what? It doesn't even make sense to say it.
He focuses on the nearest camera, speaking to Van directly.
You and I are two ends of the same coin, Van. When you strip everything down to the bare bones of it all, we're the same. We're both fierce competitors. We're both students of the game. And more importantly, we both know that in order to make a name for yourself in this business, you need to be ruthless. A lot of the so called "top dogs" of XWA haven't stepped in the ring with you before, but I have. I know what kind of man you are, Hayden. More then you know. I know why no one in this company knows a damn thing about where you've come from before XWA. Oh yea, Van. I've done my homework. And I have to say, I'm not surprised.
Scott paces the ring, speaking to the fans.
Van's been fooling you all, folks. He's pulled a veil over the eyes of you, his so called friends, even XWA management. He's tricked you into believing he's this blue collar, working man's badass. But you and I both know who you really are, Van. We know that when it comes to the subject of how low men can go, and how truly despicable we can get, no one in this company can compare to you. Now, I'm not gonna spoil the surprise or anything, but I will say this. I know your secret, Van. And I know that the rabbit hole goes even deeper then the one Morpheus talked about in The Matrix. But like I said, it doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me, is how great the links where made by you AND a certain person high up in XWA's chain of command went burying that secret. Of course the problem with trying to bury something is...you never know who might have been watching when you were digging the hole. But don't worry, Van. I'm not gonna out you. Not yet anyway. Not until I get what I want. And you'll find out what I want, or at the least a little bit of it, when I beat you tonight.
Travis: I don't know what O'Dell's talking about, but I definitely wanna know more. What's this secret?
Tony: As much as I hate to admit it, Scott's got a point. What do we really know about Van Hayden? Why's his past been so guarded? The bad part is, it looks like Scott's found a link to that past. That can't be a good thing in any way possible.
Almost on cue, Van's entrance theme cues up. Scott grins and turns his focus to the stage.
