By now, we all know the results of the main event of UFC 115. Chuck Liddell, the legendary LHW KO artist, pretty much got his career ended by Rich "Ace" Franklin. Now all over the place, the Chuck fanboys are saying "It wouldn't have happened if he would have fought Tito like he was meant to", and the Chuck haters...and everyone else for that matter...are saying "Chuck needs to get out while he still has some status left in his career". But what baffles me is how much no one is giving props to the man who WON the fight.
Rich Franklin is a Hall Of Famer in waiting. This is the man who for years dominated the Middleweight Division. The man who knocked out Ken Shamrock, Evan Tanner (RIP) and stiffened up Nate Quarry, to name a few. Rich Franklin has lost FIVE fights since he started fighting in 1999. FIVE FIGHTS in eleven years. That's insane, folks. The man is a true to life warrior in every aspect of the word. The idiots of the world wrote him off when he got beat by Anderson Silva. In hindsight, seeing as Silva's beaten EVERYONE, and Vitor Belfort, the last guy Rich lost to is a beast in his own right, Rich has to be one of the top 10 fighters in the world, easy. I mean c'mon, he knocked Chuck out last night after getting his other arm BROKEN by a kick from Chuck earlier in the round. Franklin is as good as they come. I defy you to find a man who's as stout as him in any division. I whole heartily believe Franklin's a legitimate threat for the LHW Title. His only losses are two matches to Anderson Silva, that crap decision he lost to Dan Henderson, his 1st round loss to Belfort, and a 2nd round non-UFC loss back in 2003 to a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry young Lyoto Machida. So when you look at it top to bottom, he should be at the top of any real MMA fans list of favorite fighters. Period.
