As it states, reaction thread for those watching the NHL Playoffs.
`ahem`
FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
My habs booted the defending Stanley Cup champions, Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins, in the 7th game of that series.
For those of you that may not know, Montreal Canadians placed 8th in the standings. They tripped and fell into the Playoffs.
So their first opponents were the Washington Capitals, who placed first in the eastern conference. Washington Capitals to take out Montreal in 4 straight, right? WRONG!
Montreal was down 3-1 when they came back to win it 4-3 in the series (best of 7 matches), thusly knocking out the 1st seed team in the Eastern Conference.
Next Series, Pittsburgh, another uphill battle. It was pretty much a back and forth series, with Pittsburgh pulling ahead 3-2 in the series. Montreal manages to win game six, pushing for game 7. In game 7, they break out, making the first period 2-0. The second period, same thing, and knock ahead 4-0. Late in the 2nd period, Pittsburgh manages to knock in 2, making it 4-2.
We head into the 3rd, Montreal gets a penality, Montreal kills off the penalty then Pittsburgh gets a too many men on the ice penalty. What does Montreal do? Score a PowerPlay goal, making the score 5-2 and winning the 7th game of the series and also making them the only remaining Canadian team in the NHL playoffs.
If there was ever a team to cheer for, this is it. Many many habs fans are pulling for their Habs and I'm sure many of the haters NEVER expected the Canadians to make it as far as they have.
Now they get a bit of a rest as they wait to see whether they play Boston or Philly. I'm pulling for Boston so we can have a good ol' Montreal/Boston series.
