It's possible Benjamin asked for the release, idk...
As for Mickie, she's allegedly going into country music bizniz

Just what I needed, even less reason to give a damn about WWE Divas. If they were smart, TNA would jump on this quickly, at least as far as Shelton goes. Mickie might be taking an extended break from wrestling to focus on her music career, but if she does come back to wrestling, it'll definitely be as a Knockout.

Well... I could honestly see Jimmy Wang Yang, Kung Fu Naki & Slam Master J getting the boot. But... Mickie James, Katie Lea & Shelton Benjamin !?!? ... On the bright side. I could easily see those 3 going to TNA within' the next several months. Mickie James was there before as Alexis Laree. So, she's a shoe in to go to TNA. Which would be a BIIIIIIIG boost to the TNA Knockouts Division. Katie Lea of course. Would love to see her in TNA and get a legnimate push. Perhaps pairing up with Daffney would be cool to see for a tag team ? Just an idea. And Shelton Benjamin ? Perfect for the X-Division. ;D ;D ;D So imho, WWE's loss could possibly be TNA's gain. Besides, Vince Russo is wanting to take a break from TNA for a while. Stating when & if he comes back. He only wants to be a creative consultant rather then the head decision maker/booker/writer guy. In addition to that. There's been rumors swirling of TNA trying to recruit Paul Heyman for the TNA Creative Team. Which, according to a few within' TNA looks to be a MAJOR possibility right now as long as Russo takes a hike . Initially, Heyman declined TNA's offer because of Russo. But, with him leaving TNA soon. He may reconsider.

Add Mike Knox to the list.
These releases just fuel my conspiracy theory that Vince is letting these people go to TNA, to help them compete against WWE. Almost as if it's to light a fire under these released talents, who in turn go to TNA, who thrive with the new talent coming in, thus raising the ratings. Once TNA ratings rise to near WWE level, Vince says to the writers
"TIME TO LET LOOSE"
The PG shows turn more and more adult, and we see the return of WWE worth watching, with AMAZING storylines, wrestlers worth watching, and god forbid we start to care about "The Monday Night War".

WWE is no longer awesome then, for no longer do they have the awesome beard of Mike Knox. lol

I'm gonna miss Mickie. She's hellaciously hot when I can bring myself to ignore the ridiculous meat curtains.
