*Backstage, Lucy Black is standing with a microphone. To her right is a new addition to the Overload roster, Kyle Nobbs. He has his trademark smirk on his face, and seems to be enjoying the show so far.*
Lucy: "Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce my guest at this time, Kyle Nobbs!"
*Nobbs nods and smiles at Lucy. In the brief silence that ensues, a few fans can be heard screaming for 'Nobbsy'. Kyle acknowledges them with a silent mouthing of 'thank you.'*
Lucy: "Kyle, you're new here to Overload, and the XWA, but you're certainly no stranger to the wrestling industry. You used to wrestle all across the country, from TNB to VWE to FCW to LXW, and more. So far, how is XWA different from the other companies you've worked for?"
"Well, I already feel at home here. I've been here for a little while now, roaming around behind the scenes, and no one's been a problem at all. A few years back, before I 'slipped off the face of the earth', it would be hard for me to go anywhere without someone thinking they were better than me, you know? Always picking on the little guy, 'cause he isn't as strong or intelligent or what-have-you. But so far I've seen nothing but respect from the XWA roster, and especially from Romeo Davis. Back at Union (a great show, I might add), when I accepted his open challenge, he could have just been like 'who in the blue hell are you?' and told me to beat it. But no, he was a respectful, good guy and is looking forward to the match probably as much as I am."
Lucy: "On the subject of your match with Romeo Davis, how do you think it will go? As far as I know you haven't wrestled for two or three years, surely you must have some ring rust."
"Well Lucy, to be honest with you, I couldn't tell you how it'll go. I'd like to tell ya 'Hey, it'll be a piece of cake, I'll win just 'cause that's who I am', but it really isn't who I am. And I don't know how the match will go. You're absolutely right, I haven't wrestled in years. And at the same time, I haven't been watching wrestling. I know next to nothing about Romeo Davis' style or ability, but if he remembers watching me then I'm sure he'll have the advantage. On top of that, he's got something of a 'home-turf' advantage as well. He's been here for awhile, and I'm just getting back into the swing of things. It'll be interesting."
Lucy: "You mean to tell me that you accepted an open challenge without studying your opponent, without really knowing anything about Romeo Davis?"
"Yes. Yes I do. You see, I don't like homework. I never did it in high school, I don't do it now. I'm all about getting the real job done, you know? When it comes down to it, we'll just see what happens. I like surprises. But don't think I haven't been training hard for my return match. I'm way too pumped to finally be back than to let it all crumble away before it even gets started. As far as Romeo Davis goes, I'm sure he's good. Real good, more than likely. Otherwise, he wouldn't be here in XWA, right?"
Lucy: "That's exactly right. Well, our time's almost up. Any other words to add?"
*Kyle looks straight into the camera, unblinking. It isn't a hard stare, just a confident one. He nods a few times, then begins speaking again.*
"Yeah, just a few more. It seems to me that a lot of people want to talk about my past while talking about my future, and this is a message to them. It's not about what I've done before, or what I haven't accomplished, or where I've been. It's about what's gonna go down tonight on Overload, and in the very near future. And I'll admit I'm guilty of it too- even tonight, in this interview, I've went back to the past as a reference. Well tonight it stops.
Tonight, I'm coming back to wrestling. Tonight, I'm making my in-ring XWA debut. Tonight, I'm gonna shock the crowd and astound the world. Romeo Davis, you and I are gonna have the match of the night. But I need your help with that. Don't hold back tonight. Don't compensate for the ring rust. Bring your A-game, and I guarantee I'll do the same. Let's knock 'em dead, man.
Let's do this."
*Kyle nods once to Lucy, bows slightly to the camera, and walks off.*
