The scene opens up inside the XWA training facility. The camera slowly zooms in and we find a heavily tattooed red head, dressed in black and red sparring attire.
She is finishing up a workout on the punching bag. She's finishes her final reps and begins walking towards the workout bench and wipes the sweat from her head and takes a drink of water. She suddenly turns towards the camera, which now is in fully focused on her filming her from the shoulder up.
It's Wednesday April 14th 2010. And here I stand in the XWA training facility. Now in my life I often ponder what roads have lead me to the places I have been or what roads will lead to the places I will go? What road has brought me here?
Well that's competition, and the desire to compete against the best. So here I am ...
(She gets a bit louder in her tone.)
Paige Monroe, the Straight Edge Siren herself...in the XWA, part of one if not the best women's professional wrestling divisions in the world, the Diamond's Division.
Now I've been in the business for a few years now. And in this time I've wrestled a lot of women. Some were tough as nails and some were walks in the park. I've had my hand raised in a glorious victory and I've been left in a pool of my own blood staring at the lights. Following these victories always came the question, " Well she did great but I wonder if she could beat "blank"?" Or "well that was a hard fought one for Monroe but how would she have faired against "so-and-so"?" Then there was my favorite one, "How would Paige compete against "her"? There's that word again compete. How would I compete against her?!
(She places her hands on her head and begins running her hands through her hair, in a very irritated fashion.)
The critics were always there with their questions, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't let them get to me. I started questioning myself, wondering how I would do? Against the best in the world. And a lot of those names that I was hearing were of some of the diamonds here.
(She starts nodding, as if she is agreeing with herself.)
I'll be honest I found myself needing an answer for these questions. Not for my critics, not even for my fans, but for me. I NEEDED to know, where do I rank amongst the best in the business.
Sooo..I began throwing pebbles the door of XWA, shouting, "Let me in, let me in!" And finally the folks in charge opened the door. So once again here I am. The road has brought me here (points towards the ground) ..the to XWA. To the Diamond Division.
Fast forward through time with me if you will. Negotiations are over, contracts are signed. The off-season is done and passed. The 2010 season has started, and we even had our 1st event "UNION", it's history. As for the event it was a great success. The entire landscape of the federation, changed. The diamond matches phenomenal, shaking the the division by its very foundation.
Now me move onto the year's first edition of Takedown. I WANT on it! I NEED on it! The time for my questions to be answered is NOW! So I'll use this time to formally invite any of my fellow diamonds to come compete against me. Whether it be another newcomer such as myself, or a diamond making her return for a new season. I want YOU! The door is open....
(The camera pans out a bit, and Paige extends her hand in a welcoming motion.)
Won't you come in?
I welcome you to come see what Paige Monroe is all about. Come see what I do well, compete. There'S that word goes again..
COMPETE.
Take that road. Let it lead you to me. (while pointing at herself)
(Almost as soon as those final words left her mouth, Paige turns around and walks back towards the punching bag. The camera begins to pan outwards and slowly fades to black.)
