Lionel Xander has his hand raised in victory. After hitting the X-Up on Johnny Aces and securing the pin, Xander now stood alone as the #1 contender for the Global Title, held by his nemesis Jimmy Ames. To everyone in the arena, it was an impressive, hard fought showing. But to Xander, it was destiny. After celebrating his win, Xander calls for a mic at ringside.
*Panting* And your winner is, LIONEL XANDER!!! No sweeter words have ever been spoken. You people better get used to them, you're gonna be hearin' them a lot in 2010. You see this? This win isn't a matter of skill. No, no, no...a higher power way above all of your heads is responsible for this one. A week ago, I stormed into the office of the VP Rodolphe Gallas and demanded he right the wrong that was XGames III. When Stan O'Malley stuck that good for nothin' non-factor Ryan Blaze into a match that should have been me and Ames, one on one. It was because of Blaze's bungle that he ended up gettin' pinned, and I lost out on my legitimate shot at being champ. So what did Mr. Gallas do? He told me, if I wanted my shot against Ames one on one again, I had to earn it by beatin' five of Overload's best tonight. And lookie what I did, Mr. Gallas? *Heh heh heh*
He pauses to catch his breath some more, then adds;
Jimmy muh'boy, you've been champ for a long, long time now. You've had yourself a nice lil' run as National champion. But as Global champion, your days are numbered. I'm comin' for that title. And this time, there's not gonna be any funny rules or undeserving jabronis attached to the match. Just you...and me. And this time, the better man WILL win.
Xander chucks the mic down to the ground with a thud. He puts up his signature "X" sign as the fans boo. With a gleeful smirk, Xander starts on his way out of the ring.
Tony: You may not like him, but there's no doubt after tonight he's well deserving at the 1st crack at Jimmy Ames and the newly named Global Title.
Travis: I don't think we've seen Xander as intense as he is well...ever. And rightly so. I personally believe he's the best talent in XWA not to have won a title of any kind yet. And with his mindset now, I doubt that'll last long. Ames had better watch out.
Tony: He might be more focused then ever, yes. But remember, he's faced Jimmy in three title matches, all three Jimmy went in champ, and all three Jimmy left as champ. Despite the fact that Xander's actually ahead in the lifetime match up 5-3. It's the 3 that matter most. He's shown he can beat Ames, but he hasn't shown he can beat Ames when a title is on the line.
Travis: I'd expect you to bring that up. Two of those matches where for the then X-Gen title, which was competed for in a wide range of matches that you can do little to prepare for. The other was the triple threat match at XGames III, where Xander wasn't even pinned. This time, it's mano e mano. Jimmy's had all kinds of luck in his title reign. Hell, he's beaten the likes of Kastor Troy and Primo Valiante of all people. But if there's one man who has had his number, it's that man walking up the ramp. This is going to be one hell of a match up.
Tony: On that, I definitely agree with you. Stay tuned folks, more XWA action is coming up.
