*1 Week Prior To Union*
2010. Another year. Another season. Another year older. As Genesis saw things. Being in the business for five years seemed almost like an eternity. He's traveled all over the world. Fought some of the meanest and ruthless athletes you could ever face inside a squared circle. Accomplishments. Achievements. Accolades galore. For his XWA career. He had a huge comeback year in 2008. Capped off with being named the league's 'Combatant Xtraordinaire'. In 2009. The expectations were now running high for him. He did the best that he could do last year. But, despite all his efforts. He felt that he let himself down.
So after his second appearance in the Devil's Playground. Genesis decided to skip the X-Games show to go home and begin his training. While others had a life outside the ring. To Genesis. Wrestling IS his life. Being the best that he could be. Wanting to learn, and improve his craft by each passing year. Is what motivated him to keep the ball rolling.
Jury duty came & went. What a waste of time that was, he thought. He didn't give two sh*ts about that. To him, it was a waste of his time. Time, that he could have spent training and relaxing at his home in Manhattan, NY.
Then, one day. He open to catch a few comments said from his 'nemesis', so to speak. Scott Epic.
Gen. honestly couldn't believe what was said. In truth, yes Epic did beat him when Genesis was at the lowest point of his career. But to continuously rub it in as an sad effort to put himself over ? Was uncalled for. In his mind. He was going to let Epic run his mouth about him, and all the other Xtraordinaires. Besides, he had much better plans to prepare for then another war of words with a wannabe Combatant Xtraordinaire .
So, we roll into 'Union'. Both the TakeDown & Overload brands suffered some major changes over the off-season. In the wake of all this. Genesis received a phone call from XWA Headquarters. The bosses wanted him to compete in a #1 Contenders Match for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship.
Gen. accepted the invitation. Hopped on a plane bound for Pittsburgh, PA. As the Mellon Arena was the sight for XWA's inaugural Pay-Per-View event for the 2010 season. It was time to see if any of his training was going to pay off. This wasn't going to be a walk in the park. He was stepping into the ring with 5 other men. Who were amongst some of the best XWA has to offer.
*Present Day - UNION !*
The arena was jammed back to the rafters. The crowd was in a fever pitched high. Ready, and excited for the upcoming spectacular show that XWA was about to put on.
Gen's music hit. 'Hunt You Down' by Saliva began to roar out through the PA System. Genesis had his hair dyed back to its original jet black form. His 'Lemmy Kilmister' styled beard grown back out. The battle armor was back from his old 2007 'Atlanta' heyday. Yes folks. It appears that Genesis was 'officially' back in full form. Ready to rock the house with his words of wisdom. Surely to piss of a few people, and hopefully along the way. Bring home some more gold .
After Gen. had hit the ring. His music died down. The crowd was excited to see him back. 'The King of Controversy' didn't really know what to think of the situation. He could care less of the crowd loved, or hated him. But a part of him was happy to see them give him his props and the respect.
So with all that in mind. Genesis grabbed a microphone from the nearby ring announcer. Raised it to his lips. Then began to speak:
I gotta admit folks. It feels great to be back in an XWA ring. It really does. For months. Since my wars with Scott Epic. Then my 2nd straight loss in the deadly Devil's Playground. I began to have doubts about myself. I'm almost twenty five and already after five years. My body is beginning to feel like I'm fifty five.
Gen. says with a slight chuckle as he continues on:
In a way. I started to have subconscious feelings about how much I was worth to this company. If really anything at all. Its no secret that last year. Genesis wasn't at his best. Compared to 2008. A year that was exciting and explosive like fireworks at the 4th of July. Then became nothing but a fizzle & dud in 2009.
There were times that I felt like... I was embarrassing myself by stepping through these ropes and trying to fool myself with keeping up with a newer, hungrier and much younger generation of XWA Superstars. I might be a young guy still. But I tell ya. I've had numerous leg and back injuries that have taken there toll on me. I've already told by my doctor that I should have stopped my profession.
Moral to this short story is. Against all odds. I found a way to pull through and come out stronger then I ever was before.
Which brings us to tonight. Because during my training. One vow that I made to myself was I was never going to feel pathetic ever again. That 2010 IS going to be my year. My year to shine. And, what I hope to be will be my BEST year in professional wrestling in quite some time.
What better way to start then to be involved in a match with five of the most talented athletes here at XWA. Two fellow Combatant Xtraodrinaires. Kayn & MG. Another young gun whose on the rise here in the XWA, Dan Ripley. And two former World Champions. Magnus Von Schwartz and Syrus the Entertainer.
And really, what can i say to these athletes. Well, for the first time in a long time. I'm going to keep my words short & sweet.
Genesis is BACK !
'The King of Controversy', the man who put the fear of god in promoters and mouthed off to every piss ant who stepped in my path. A man whose was fired 5 times and lived to tell about it, is BACK !
And lastly. The man who will be your next XWA World Heavyweight Champion ? is BACK !
So fellas. Get your popcorn ready. This isn't T.O. I come to deliver. Tonight, right here at Union. The world will be my stage, and I'll be the show !
Book Closed. End of Story. Deal With It !
And with that. Genesis left the ring. The fans were pumped up and excited. Union was well underway. Now, all there's left to do is ring the bell and let the action take place later tonight.
