Bio:
Devon Wales was born to be a wrestler. As child, he idolized the likes of Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask and the late Mitsuhara Misawa. In his country of New Zealand, Wrestling and Rugby are the two biggest sports, so naturally growing up Devon partook in both. But Wrestling would eventually become his passion, and he began to pursue his dream full time after graduating High School. Devon traveled to Japan to cultivate his skill in some of Japan's most renowned dojos, all the while doing small shows to make ends meat. His hard work would soon pay off, as he was eventually contacted by one of Australia's premiere wrestling organizations, Australian Wrestling Society and began wrestling for the company under the name "Devon Storm". Within his 1st year of competition in the company, he secured the ASW Juniorweight Title, holding it for 7 months. He would also win the Light Heavyweight title some months later.
It was around this time that he was recruited to compete for XWA. The company was in dire need of quality Light Heavyweights, and a scout suggested signing Wales to a contract. Without hesitation, Devon jumped at the chance to make a name for himself in the United States. But after competing in a few matches for XWA in late 2007 and early 2008, Devon would take an indefinite hiatus from the company. He felt he wasn't ready for the grueling life on the road that came with XWA superstardom. Rather then release him however, XWA opted to have him wrestle in their newly acquired Australian developmental territory...AWS. Devon was thrilled that he'd get to wrestle back home, and still remain under the XWA banner (though making substantially less money, but the money was never his reason for becoming a wrestler in the 1st place.)
Devon would continue his meteoric rise in 08 and 09, winning the 15th annual ASW Super Cup tournament in December of 2008, and riding the success of it into winning his 1st ever world title in March of 2009. Devon would hold the AWS World Title until November of 09. Upon losing the title, Devon decided the time was finally right. 2 days later, he contacted XWA talent coordinator Sierra Hyde Easton and formally requested to be returned to the active roster. A week later, Devon was on a plane to Akron, Ohio to spend the offseason training in Dru Nedermeyer's Monster's Den Combat Sports to prepare for what will be his 1st full year of XWA competition.
