Bio:
Another notch to the gunpost of Robby Sylk came in 2009 by way of the newly instated GrandSlam Championship. Sylk won the tournament to become the first hold of the belt in the XWA and would successfully hold on to the title for much of the season.
A returning Kris Cade proved to be Sylk's greatest challenge for the title. After initially making his case for a challenge with a decisive victory, Sylk along with his cohorts used typical rule-breaking to end their first match in a DQ, thus allowing Robby to retain the belt. This is when newly appointed TakeDown GM Mike Roach stepped in and made a return match, this time in a Steel Cage.
Sylk would prevail in this contest, and now figured himself to be finished with Cade before Roach interjected again and gave Cade another opportunity to face him for the belt, citing that with a win by Cade via DQ and one by Sylk now "tied" their head to head match ups. The third time was the charm for Cade, as he would succeed in defeating Sylk in a Pure Rules match for the GSC. The entire ordeal left Sylk sour specifically towards Roach, believing that the GM was throwing his weight around to get the title away from Sylk and into the hands of one of the XWA's "poster boys".
This conspiracy theory has not subsided. After losing the GSC, Sylk would sit out the final month of the 2009 season, but not before a chance meeting with impressive XWA rookie Jeremy Pendelton. Their discussion furthered Sylk's stance on the "establishment" of XWA's front office. In 2010, Robby Sylk plans to break all the rules and show the world that he can do what he wants, when he wants and there's no authority that can stop him.
