Bio:
John Irons unlike many of the superstars of XWA didn't set out to be a wrestler at a young age. It wasn't his dream to compete in front of thousands of screaming fans. At one point in his life, John was more focused on if he would live to see the next day. Born into a poor family in the ghettos of Mississippi, John knew of the violent struggle of inner city life from his youth. At 7 years old, he'd lost 2 of his older brothers to street violence. But it was the only way he himself saw he could make something of his life. As a teen, John fell into gang violence and was eventually arrested for assault and possession of an illegal weapon. Charges that landed him an 8 year sentence in federal prison. While incarcerated, John did what so many other inmates to, weight lift. Eventually, it became his vice, and he bulked up to a staggering 320lbs of pure muscle. John served 5 years of his sentence before being released for good behavior, but soon found a new struggle. Being an ex-con in the middle of a nationwide recession.
The year was 2007, and John...now a free man, struggled to make end's meet. No place would higher an ex-con with an assault and weapons charge on his record, and John's frustration almost led him to going back to the ways that landed him in prison in the 1st place. But salvation would come in one of his former gang brothers who had also cleaned up his act after a prison bid. And that salvation was in Personal Security. From A-List movie stars to rappers, there was a need for men like John. Big, strong guys who could fight and intimidate. So taking up his old friend's offer, John became a bodyguard. It was then that his fortunes changed.
While working a job for a famous female fitness model, John crossed paths with the one and only Dru Nedermeyer at a Muscle & Fitness event. Dru seeing John's size and potential, gave him a pitch to perhaps try his hand at professional wrestling. At the time, Nedermeyer had just opened his training facility in Akron, and was naturally looking for students. John followed wrestling as a youth as well as in prison (His cell block would often gather up to watch XWA events) so after his contract ended with his present assignment, John was on a plane to Ohio.
While training under Nedermeyer and Cody Black during 2008, he'd also wrestle in small venues and independents to test all he'd learned. As it turned out, he was indeed good at it. Good enough to gain recognition, and eventually a successful tryout and contract with XWA in 2009. A year that would see John go head to head against the best new talent of the year, Dan Ripley. While John had limited success against Ripley and his associate Vikram, he's more then ready to turn the tables, settle the score, and build momentum to finding his place in the ranks of Takedown for 2010.
