In the past seasons we've done the year end awards, we did them in character. However since 2009 was generally and "off" year, and because we don't have the time to organize an IC awards show post, we've decided to do it the old fashioned way, putting it to member vote. Now, 4 awards aren't up for vote, and those awards are the New Sensation and Combatant Xtraordinare awards for both genders. These awards exemplify the best overall character for the past season. The New Sensation award is given to the characters who joined the past season who made the hugest impact league wide, while the Xtraordinare award is given to the character who showed the overall best consistency of ALL characters, new and old. So without further delay, here are the awards:
New Sensation 2009 (Female)
Jenna Slade
Working yourself into winning a championship your rookie year is pretty much the definition of success. And Jenna did exactly that. In one season, the character has evolved from simple eye candy "back up" into her own stand alone entity, which only helps the character's development further.
New Sensation 2009 (Male)
Dan Ripley
We saw a lot of new male characters come into XWA at the start of the 2009 season. And there were a number of them who were certainly under consideration. But when you look at the full body of work from start to finish, no XWA 2009 rookie made a greater impact then Dan Ripley. I'd even go as far as saying he in one season proved himself to be second to only Scott O'Dell in the heel category. There was no drop off in production from him from start to finish, which is why he gets the nod.

Diamond Xtraordinate
Bianca Dianaco
No Diamond this season showed more overall range then Bianca. She's been a runner up in the last two seasons, but this year there's no denying she's it. She jumped from serious storylines, to humorous storylines and even showed us a little bit into the way she is outside of the ring. This year saw Bianca become less of an adversarial character and more a complete entity. Add to that of course a decent Diamond Title reign and it's icing on the cake. But it's the overall progression of the character that gets her the nod of Diamond Xtraordinare.
Combatant Xtraordinare
MG
This one I'm particularly proud of. MG's been here in XWA since it's beginnings. And when he 1st started, needless to say he was a little green. But I personally took the handler (And Sushi-X's) under my wing back in 2008 and showed him the ropes of how to build his character type into something other then the average "thug" character. And needless to say, 2009 he took those teaching and had without a doubt a breakthrough year. 2009 saw MG the character come into a different light. We saw the emotional side of the character. We got a glimpse into the "man" he is. In this one season we saw more development of the character then in 2007 and 2008 combined. And what makes it even more special is the fact that he did it with VERY limited support. A lot of handlers suffered from Takedown's post draft character drought, but MG managed to keep his character relevant without so much as even being part of any major storylines. THAT'S a major accomplishment, and the reason why he's Combatant Xtraordinare 2009.

Now, the rest of the awards will all be up to member vote. Each category will be houses in individual posts in this sub-board. Voting will be open for 10 days. (or however long it takes if it's a landslide vote.) After that, the votes will be tallied up, and the winners announced. (No idea if we're gonna be giving out special award sigs yet.) PLEASE everyone vote. All it takes is a few clicks of the mouse. And to be fair, only one vote per handler. And we KNOW who handles who, so no trying to sneak in votes under your secondary accounts.
