APB (All Points Bulletin) is an upcoming massively multiplayer online video game for Microsoft Windows based in urban sprawls and featuring two sides, Enforcement and the Criminals. Players may join either the Enforcers or the Criminals, and form sub-groups in these. The game design is led by David Jones, creator of the original Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown, and is being developed by Realtime Worlds.
APB has been described by Realtime Worlds executive Colin Macdonald as being "the bastard child of everything we’ve been striving towards over the 15-20 years" and a culmination of "what [David Jones'] always wanted to do from GTA and before Crackdown and APB."
The game takes place in a modern-day, fictional city where there is a constant battle between "Enforcement" and "Criminals", and the player will need to decide to which Faction they want to belong. The two sides battle out for control of the city, with territory within the city being contested continually 24 hours a day, so that players must concern themselves with both offensive and defensive moves.
Other activities involving missions within the game allowing the player to earn extra money, which then can be used to upgrade weapons, vehicles, and their character appearances, all that influence the game itself. For example, several Criminal players may rob a convenience store within the game; the game will then seek out one or more Law Enforcement players of equivalent skills and other criteria, and will issue an all-points bulletin for them to stop the robbery.

Just from the creation aspect ALONE this game has officially moved to the top of my "PC Games To Get" list. Add to the fact that we get to pop caps off in other player's asses in a real time, living virtual city? Seems almost to good to be true. I'll definitely be keeping VERY close tabs on this one. Granted, I'd most likely have to overhaul my PC for it to run the game, but it's about time I upgraded my GFX card anyway. (I refuse to by a new PC until Vista is full and OFFICIALLY phased out of existence.)

Sorry X, but it wpn't be a WoW killer. if Aion, Conan, or LOTR online couldn't do it, ABP won't be able to either. WoW has 11 million active subscribers. WoW won't die until Blizz itself kills it.
This game does look awesome though.

Never even knew a game like this was even being developed. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it to. Looks like it's gonna be fun to play.

No official release date has been announced, all they state is that it'll be out in 2010. My guess is perhaps sometime in the summer. There's also small speculation that a console version might be in the works for 360 (no word on PS3) but again that's purely speculation. As far as PC games go, this one is going to be a MAJOR release. Probably the biggest one in recent memory. There's also no official word on if it'll be free or pay2play, but from what some insiders from the developer said, it'll most likely be free to play, just with micro transactions for added content such as new clothes, cars, weapons etc. I personally like that idea, because it doesn't lock you in to having to subscribe like WoW. You can choose to add on new content, or just stay content with what comes with the base game. And any obvious expansions they release you'd naturally have to pay for as well.

There will be some sort of payment method for either sub. or micro transactions. MMOs are usually P2P because of the constant server maintenance needed, patching, things like that.

That depends on the MMO. Look at Free Realms. It has microtransactions and such. That being said, I figured a bunch of you would like this game. Tis why I posted it .

I've never been a huge fan of shooting games of any type aside from the old school side scrolling space shooters. But I have to admit, this game has peaked my interest a bit. There's always a game that comes along to build your interest in a specific genre, and creation features aside, it looks like it'd be a nice game to lose yourself in. I definitely think I'll take a look at this one when it releases.

Just so you know, if you're getting this game (as I am most definitely) I've started a clan that will be Enforcers called The Agency, and have already built a forum for the group here: agencyapbsquad.proboards.com/index.cgiSo if you want to team up and clean up, you know where to go. I'll be helping develop a Criminal group as well, but first things first.
