...drum roll please...
*Drums roll*
"Big Country" Roy Nelson!!! Yea. He put Branden Schaub to sleep with about a minute and a half left in round 1 with a clean shot right to the back of the ear off of a counter. Branden kinda did a ballerina move as he went down. Granted, he's got a ton of upside, and his career is just starting as a true MMA fighter, but Nelson's got more experience then a LOT of the guys in the heavyweight division, and the fact that he's a fat boy decieves since he uses that weight well, and it a BLACK BELT in BJJ. So there you have it, Roy Nelson wins season 10.
Other footnotes on the night was the Houston Alexander Vs. Kimbo Slice fight. Not at ALL the fight people where expecting. They expected them to just come out guns blazing, but round one was spent with both men sizing each other up. Kimbo actually didn't throw a punch until a minute left in the round. Round 2 is where it picked up, and we saw a glimpse at the MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, not the brawler. He hit a simply vicious slam on Houston. Dumped him right on his head, then got a full mount and started raining the pain down. But Houston eventually managed to get back on his feet. Kimbo pretty much dictated the fight from that point on. The only point that he looked in real trouble was when Alexander landed a Forrest Griffin like Leg Kick that took Kimbo down to the floor. Alexander swarmed in, but Kimbo averted the pounce with limited damage done. Kimbo ended up winning by decision, of which some of the idiot fans booed cuz he didn't knock Alexander out. But both men fought smart fights. They each had game plans, and they stuck to them, which shows just how far both Kimbo and Alexander have come as Mixed Martial Artists. Oh yea, Kimbo now trains at American Top Team, so you KNOW he's going to continue to improve.
Last but not least, the biggest news of the night. Season 11. The coaches where announced by Dana White, and I'm licking my chops for it. Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz!!! Yep, The Iceman and The Huntington Beach Badboy doing their 2nd tours as coaches. It'll be Middleweights they'll be coaching, and it also confirms that following season 11, we'll see Liddell Vs. Ortiz III. The last 2 times Chuck came out on top. But can the fact that Chuck's coming off his worst stretch of fights as a pro play to Tito's advantage? He looked pretty sharp against Forrest in his 1st fight back. All and all, The finale was pretty solid. Next up comes watching Diego Sanchez punt BJ Penn's football of a head 55 yards at 107.
