It was easily the most shocking moment of the 2009 season, and surely one of the most shocking in the XWA's history. Fans and reporters alike were calling it "The Italian Job", the night that Channelle Valencia turned on her partner Jenna Slade and cost her the Pearl Championship.
It was a classic double-cross in every sense of the word, except for the fact that nobody really had any explanation as to why it happened. As Devil's Night hit the airwaves and the introductory pyros subsided, the sound of Jenna's theme "Promiscuous Girl" began to play, and from the look in her eyes, she was determined to get an explanation tonight. She stepped into the ring and was met by a mic on the canvas, which she immediately put to use.
Channelle...I've been wondering all this past week what was the reason why you did what you did to me at OTS. What could make you decide that you wanted to come out in the middle of my match and put you own little stamp on it, costing me the Pearl Title.
Then it occurred to me just as I was walking out here tonight that it's the Pearl Title itself that had to be the reason! You never said anything, but I know you were always jealous of the fact that I won it on my first try where you couldn't win it after two. That's just like you isn't it? You always have to have your way even if you know you can't huh?
She starts the typical pace of the ring...
That's why you turned your back on your old partner, and it's the same reason you turned on me, because it has been and always will be about nothing more than you. Everything and everyone else just doesn't matter. I should have knew better than to trust you that day you spoke to me backstage and said you had my back. Or maybe you just meant you'd be watching my back for the most opportune time to stab me in it?
Well, you might have gotten the "job" done in Italy Channelle, but tonight...it's time for you to pay! I want you one-on-one in this ring, and believe me when I say that I'm gonna teach you a huuuuuuuge lesson.
She stands pat and waits for a response.
