As we get closer to the release of the new game, one thing that needs to be addressed is the use of abilities. As you all know by now, certain abilities are selectable outright, while others will need to be acquired. In an attempt to promote more balance and realism in the league, two specific abilities now will become "exclusive", much like Resiliency is, but slightly different. These are the Lock Pick and Kip-Up abilities.
We were extremely lenient of both ability's usages in 2009, but for the new season they will be only used by those characters/handlers who have established the natural "ability" to use said abilities. Take a look at the existing WWE roster list for 2010 and you'll see that only a handful of them use either or ability, with only HBK, Taker & Kane using Kip-Up out of the entire roster. So with that said, only a certain few existing characters in the XWA right now will be able to use either or ability (but not a combination of them). For those who wish to join them, these are the criteria needed to be eligible:
By default, these XWA characters will be able to use Lock Pick...
Scott O'Dell
Ashley Diamond
Magnus Von Schwartz
Hayley Jonas
Jon Payne
Johnny Aces
Osh Vaughn
Kim Hunter
Alundra Jade
Helena Troy
and any SHW wrestler who chooses to use it.
Anyone else will have to make their CAW's moveset style fit into one of these categories.
Technical- a fundamentally sound competitor who sheds flashy, dazzling and over-powering moves alike in exchange for effective techniques designed to wear down their opponents. Technicians also have superb defensive abilities.
*Moveset requirement- Maximum of 4 High Impact/Powerful/Flashy standing grapple moves. All other existing spots must be compiled of mid-range/traditional moves.
Submissionist- a competitor who methodically wears down a single or group of parts on an opponents body in order to finish them off with a variety of debilitating submission techniques.
*Moveset requirement- Must have a submission move as both a Finisher and a Signature Move.
Grappler- an expert in close range holds, who can take down opponents with a myriad of throws, or clinch them with a plethora of joint locks or choke holds.
*Moveset requirement- Must have a minimum of 8 "Suplex" and 3 Struggle Submission moves from the standing grapple position.
Strong Style- a competitor who incorporates full impact into every move. These men/women also have absorbed other disciplines into their wrestling arsenals, like the martial arts. Because of this, Strong Style wrestlers can also specialize in other "techinique" based styles.
*Moveset requirement- Minimum of 6 "Attack" moves, 4 "Suplex" moves and 3 Submission moves from a standing grapple.
Naturally, those characters listed above will need to fall under these Styles as well in order to use the ability themselves.
As for Kip-Up, this one is going to be the first ever roleplayer specific ability. It will be granted to all the characters of the XWA right now who fit the "showman" persona of drawing heat in unique and creative ways. By default, these are the Showmen (and Show"Girls") who will have access to the ability.
Showmen
Syrus The Entertainer
Jimmy Ames
Robby Sylk
Jonny Punch
Genesis
Scott Epic
Tommy Tryton
Finesse
Milo Miller
Dan Ripley
Lionel Xander
Show-girls
Amber Gianni
Vesper Gold
Holly Woodz
Channelle
Jenna Slade
Anyone else who wishes to have it will have to start roleplaying in more unique and creative ways, simple. You have be innovative and original (or as original as wrestling can be) in your roleplays and consistently do things that would constitute your character being a "showy" type of character. It just a matter of roleplaying a character to the point of making a thread entertaining, and not just to make a match. Putting on a show with your roleplays for 3 months consecutively will earn you the use of the ability. You'll be notified by myself or Kaoz when you have earned it.
The rest of the abilities are all free reign but within reason, so no hammer throwing light heavyweights or springboarding supers, they'll be suspended for a month if we catch them. Something else will be formulated specifically for the Diamonds in terms of other abilities at a later time.
