I video vignette plays of the incomparable Jake Slayde. It shows highlights of his from various indy feds as well as XWA's independant territories. After the snippet ends, the camera fades into show Jake Slayde, live and in person. It zooms out to show Fabiola stand beside him with mic in hand.

Jake Slayde, welcome to the XWA.

Glad to be here, Fabiola.

Well, you've blazed an impressive trail in the independent wrestling scene, now you look to do the same here.


That's right. A man makes his own destiny. It's not laid out for him, it's formed in front of him by the choices and decisions he makes. It's by those choices that his legend is born. And the only way to be a legend, is by being remembered as one. Paying your dues, taking your lumps, picking your spots. That's what I'm doing tonight. I could have come to XWA months ago, but it wasn't time yet. Right now? It's time.

Some people question why you decided to do so, so late in the season though.

Like I said, it's all about picking your spots. Knowing when the right time is to strike. Two months ago, one month ago...wasn't it. Last week wasn't the time. But tonight, one week before one of XWA four biggest PPVs of the year, oh yea.

Well, it's great having you here. Question is, are we going to see you in action anytime soon?

Funny you should ask, Fabiola. Because once I showed up to the arena, I got my marching orders from Mike Roach himself. Tonight, I make my XWA debut. And the guy I'm facing tonight? Some guy named Chris Dynamite.

The fans boo the very mention of his name.

That "some guy" just so happens to be a former Pure champion. And from seeing him earlier tonight, he didn't look in the best of moods.

*Heh heh* Relax, Fabz. The last thing I ever do is take a man lightly. Especially a man like Chris Dynamite. He's a dangerous opponent because, let's face it...he's got nothing to lose. And if I do lose to him, it doesn't bother me being "one of the two guys who lost to Dynamite." Cuz the fact of the matter is anyone's capable of losing, but not everyone is capable of pushing the boundaries. Taking things to the next level. That's what Jake Slayde's all about. That's why they call me the "One Man Revolution". I'm not taking Dynamite as an easy win. I'm taking him like I do every other match I've competed in, the next challenge for me to overcome. And...

Before he could continue, they were joined by none other then Chris Dynamite himself.

[Chris Dynamite]

Dynamite wanders into shot applauding. He stops and looks Jake up and down,

Wow, I mean my god Wow! You’re… Hey Fab, hows it going?... But you, you’re Jake Slayde!! The indy senstation! The One Man Revolution. You’re like one of that new breed of flying big men! I mean its so cool to be stood here with… Ah Shuddup!

he pauses to study Jake for a moment,

You see Jake, I actually kno… hold that mic a bit higher there Fab, lets get full sounds coverage here eh? Yeah I know who you are Jake. I know your record around this business, I've even actually seen a couple of your battles with Razr Callahan. You’re an Indy sensation, you’re one of the darlings of the IWC. There’s thousands of fat unemployed slobs sat in their parents basements at the moment getting their jollies to videos of you wrestling hour long classics in school gyms! Now I was under the impression that when you came here, to what we like to call the ‘Big Time’ the slate was wiped clean of all that. But it appears not eh? You see you’ve come in hot, indy superstar, hero of the IWC, and our GM in his infinite wisdom, and desperation to be liked, has given you the proverbial free pass…

Goldman: What the hell is he on about?
BuZz: As always I have no idea…

Yep, the old golden ticket’s in your hand isn’t it Jakey? I mean, how would it look if this young superstar rode into the XWA on a wave of widespread success and commendation, and then struggled? Ooooo no, we couldn’t have that could we?! So for your first match Mike Roach gives you me. Is it to test your skills? Nope, its such that his internet darling gets himself a ‘W’ on his first night. I mean how would it look if after all that momentum you lost on your first outing in the big leagues? Yikes, we can’t risk that can we? he laughs So all in all its looking like a pretty good first night for you Mr One Man Revolution. You get to stand here making Fabiola all hot… he raises an eyebrow …under the collar, and then you get to share the ring with one of the biggest ratings draws in the company, and probably rack up the W your adoring fans want so badly. That must sound pretty good to you huh?

[slayde]

With a raises eyebrow, Jake looks back to Fabiola before speaking his response to Dynamite's comments.

Wow. That's an...uhm...interesting perspective ya' got their, dude. But...uh...I think your perception of things is a lil' on the warped side. You see, all the fanfare that's followed me my career? It's from hard work, sacrifice and doing it the right way. Not stepping on anyone's toes. Not purposely making enemies of anyone, and most importantly, from out performing the guy across the ring. No one makes it to as you said "The Big Time" without earning their spot. XWA damn sure doesn't hire anyone they think can't make it. Hell, you might just have one win this year, but that win was a title match, so that's gotta account for something. You might not like the fact that Mike Roach *ahem* "served you up to the new guy", But I can tell you this right now...just like I just got finished saying, I'm not treating you as an easy win. I'm treating you as the next man up to the plate. And you can expect a steady diet of fastballs right down broadway. Let's see if you can hit one outta the park, or if you'll strike out swinging.

Jake then waits to see what Dynamite would say next.

[Chris Dynamite]

Dynamite just stares at Jake for a moment...

Wow Chris, are you lost for words? That must be a first...

No Fabby I'm not, Im just... Hey just stand there and look pretty huh?[/font]

But it does seem that...

Shhh...[/font] he turns to Jake I love the baseball analogy, im betting it went down real well here in spain![/font]

Goldman: He does know that baseball has travelled outside the US right?

You see Jakey, I know you've paid your dues. Hell I've seen you do it. And you're damn right there's a reason I'm here, its becuase I'm the single greatest entertainer in this business. For sheer viewing figures I am the most important acquisition in pro wrestling history. And tomight's a big night for you isn't it? Because you get to share in that spotilight for a fleeting moment. Unlike the cabronas in this audience you get to stand toe to toe with the untouchable. But, if you think im going to stand here and let you make me look stupid, you have another think coming... [/font]

Goldman: I think Jake SLayde has got to Chris Dynamite here,
BuZz: Well the kid's sharp, and Dynamite looked pretty lost for words there...

[slayde]

Jake chuckles a bit before he answers...

Dude, c'mon now. Why would I wanna make you look stupid? 9 times outta 10 you don't need anyone's help to do that.

He chuckles again.

I'm kiddin' man, I'm kidding. All jokes aside. I'm not here to step on anyone's toes, or jump on someone's band wagon to get myself heat. I'm looking to do the same thing here I've done anyplace else, earn my spot. Now I can imagine you've got a major chip on your shoulder, and that's your thing. It's cool. It's how your roll, I get that. But how I roll is I get in the ring, I give the best I can give, and win or lose, I walk out a better wrestler, and a better man. I'm not here to make you an example or anything. I'm here to do the same thing everyone on roster's looking to do. Notch another win, move up the ranks, and get one step closer to the prize. Right now, I'm at the bottom of the heap. But when all's said and done, I'll be sittin' on top soon enough. And when I am, I'll have done it the right way. The way I always do it. And the way anyone who gets in the ring with me has to do it in order to get the best of me...

...by earning it.

Jake then waits for Dynamite's last response.

Dynamite smirks at Jake,

Honourable words... Seriously, very impressive. Earning your way to the top is the way to go. I'm sure the kids love it, your t-shirt sales must be through the roof! So you're ready to give it your all? Well lace up your boots, and I'll see you in the ring. And win or lose, let's see if, when the spotlight is shining, you can handle the pressure... Good Luck, I'd hate to see you choke!

He winks at Fabiola, and turns to leave, leaving the last word to Jake.
