Whoever wrote that fad comment is about as misinformed and delusional as they come. MMA is a revolution. People need to realize that 20 years ago, there was no such thing as MMA, and 15 years ago is was still in it's barbaric infancy. The MMA arena that exists now is even more organized the Boxing is, and Boxing's been around for over 100 years. For people who are bonfide Martial Artists or Combat Sport competitors such as Greco-Roman Wrestlers, Judokas, BJJ practitioners and so on, MMA as it exists now is the means to showcase your actual skill, not fake fight scenes in movies and TV shows. It's the evolution of a number of Martial Art disciplines and competitions rolled into one medium where the world's best Martial Artists, no matter what their background is, can showcase their prowess. It's the fastest growing sport in the world, so much so that the World Olympic Council is actually taking another look in making it an Olympic event under the label of "Pankration" or "Pankras". (Wiki it. Casual MMA fans might find the material quite interesting.) In any case, I wish him all the best. He's a real life Martial Artist, not some celebrity Athlete trying to cash in on MMA's rising popularity. So in that alone, he's already got a heads up.

Spoken like a true Mixed Martial Arts connoisseur.
