If you don't want what happens on Smackdown spoiled for you DO NOT READ BELOW!!!
You were warned...
At the latest taping of Smackdown this past Tuesday, Jeff Hardy faced the new World Heavyweight champion CM Punk in a "Loser Leaves WWE" Steel Cage match, and as you might guess...he lost. This coincides with the fact that Hardy had been speculated to take some time off from the WWE for a few months, where as now it looks like he'll be gone for upwards of a year. Hardy's worked non-stop since his return back to the WWE in late 2007, and at 31 years of age now, the wear and tear he's put on his body the last 10 years you can see has taken it's toll. The move is much similar to that of Chris Jericho's departure from WWE, when he took extended time off, to come back better then ever. WWE has stated that "The door will always be open for Jeff's return" which confirms that he's not being released, he's being given time off, nothing more...nothing less. His recent feud with CM Punk has helped Punk rise to the status of heel Smackdown needed desperately with the loss of Edge do to injury. Jeff Hardy place in the WWE will always be there. Whether he does come back eventually or decides to hang them up for good over the next year or so, there's no question that he's not only a legend, but a future Hall Of Famer.
