[Romeo Davis]

The sound of a cell phone ringing could be heard in the background of the room in Romeo’s apartment. He was just released from the hospital after having minor surgery on his neck and base of the head. Without looking at the caller I.D. he knew who it would be. Just being released from the hospital, his mother would obviously want to hear from him. He looked at the caller I.D. and he was correct, it was his mother calling. He flipped the phone open and answered his mother’s phone call.

Ma, what’s goin’ on?

Not much, how are you feeling there Romeo?

I’m actually feelin’ real good right ‘bout now. The doc said that I should step away from the ring for a lil’ bit to heal up and that I should be ready in no time. It really wasn’t too major of a surgery but something didn’t happen and I know ya’ ain’t gonna be too happy ‘bout it.

Romeo, tell me what happened?

Well in order to get to a certain area of my head/neck they had to cut my hair. They actually had to shave that section so I basically told them to shave my whole head. It was painful ma I gotta tell ya.’ I mean just lettin’ go of all that hair but it was something that needed to be done. To tell ya’ the truth a feel a lot more free without it. Kinda weird but I think ya’ understand right ma?

Yeah I understand, you gotta do what you gotta do. That’s all there is too it. But I am glad that you are satisfied with it. But honestly Romeo, you need to stop getting injured hunny.

This time it was the other guy who just didn’t execute him moves properly which led to the odd landings on my neck. I’m fine though ma, no need to worry ‘bout me.

Alright Romeo. I believe you but don’t go do anymore crazy things now. I’ll talk you later.

Yeah ma, no worries. Later.

Romeo hung up his phone and put his hand over his head. His hair was really gone. Would this new look give Romeo a new attitude? Would it change who he was? He didn’t know the answers to these questions. Right now all he could do was rest. He turned the T.V. and began watching Sports Center.

It had been a few days since the surgery and Romeo was feeling much better. He only had slight pain at the end range when moving his neck, but it was something that he was starting to get used to. It didn’t really affect him doing normal everyday things. The only thing that really bothered him was when he went to the gym and performed shoulder shrugs to work his upper traps. The surgery was performed somewhat in that area so it had gotten painful during the last couple reps. He started to cut down with the amount he performed and the pain had started to subside. He wanted to get back in the ring but he wanted to be able to perform pain free. He knew that he would miss this week’s Takedown and he would possibly miss Soul Survivor also. He was set to return during the first Takedown after Soul Survivor. That’s what he wanted to do because he felt as though that would be a good amount of rest for his neck. So as of right now he continued to rest patiently waiting for his time to return to the XWA.
