As Overload comes in from a break, we see Lionel Xander standing in the ring with a mic in hand. Flanked by him for the 1st time in 2009 was his long time running mate Chris Cage. With boos hailing down on the brash veteran, Lionel responds.
You people really think booing me makes any difference? C'mon now. I would figure that you all would know by now that might is right. And my might has been right all season long. There aren't many guys in XWA as we draw close to the mid point of the season who are undefeated. But I'm one of them. A perfect 4-0. But do you see me gloating about it? Posturing and parading like one of the noobs would if they had my success? Not a chance. And ya' know why? Because I'm used to winning. I'm used to success. It's something I've had my entire career. A new jack would be beside himself with over confidence. But me? Eh...it's just another day at the office. But the reason I'm out here tonight isn't to entertain you idiots. It's to call out one of your own. A man who I have some unfinished business with. A man who I AND Cage here have unfinished business with. And that man is Illinois' own Van Hayden.
The crowd cheers the mention of Hayden's name. Lionel gives and unimpressed smirk before continuing.
How's I know you were gonna do that? Anyway, Me and Van had a series of matches way back in 2007. Two matches to be exact. He won the 1st, I won the second. But as fate would have it, we never got to settling things in a rubber match. And of course in 2008, he had his national title run, and I went on to post one of the best win-loss records in XWA history. But our paths never crossed. Well I'm not leaving that to chance anymore. So here's how it's gonna work Van. Me and Cage here are dressed to work, and we're ready to fight. So how about you find yourself another shlub to be your partner for the night, and we have us another go for old times sake, eh?
Xander lowers his mic. He and Cage turn there attention to the stage as they await the arrival of Van Hayden.
