The pyro display comes to and end, and the 1st episode of the "New" Overload was on the air. Over the PA of the Carver Arena plays Disturbed's "This Moment", a theme unfamiliar to all in the arena. But out to the stage came a man who wasn't.
Willy: Well I'm be damned. That's Stan O'Malley, aka Stan "The Man". Talk about a sight for sore eyes.
Tony: One of the true legends of the sport. He came up in the ranks along side of Dru Nedermeyer, Yoshi Togo and so many of the modern day legends. He stepped away from wrestling to pursue other professional ventures, but who can forget some of his matches when he WAS wrestling. I remember the Hardcore match he had against Vincent Fate as Riot. Talk about a blood bath. He gained loads of respect in that match. But what's he doing here?
By this time, Stan stood in the middle of the ring. With a mic in hand, he addresses the cheering fans.
It's been a looooooooooooong time since I've been in one of these. Three years go by pretty damn fast. But here I am. Dead center in the middle of the ring, in the greatest wrestling organization in the country, dare I say the world. But...I bet all of you are wondering why. Well, wonder no more. Allow me to re-introduce myself. Most of you old schoolers know me as Stan O'Malley, AKA "Stan The Man." But these days, I have a new nickname...
General Manager of OVERLOAD.
The crowd roars in cheer.
Willy: WOW!!! Stan's the new boss!!! Things just got interesting already.
When word went out that XWA was going to be split into brands, I got a phone call from an old friend, one Mr. Roy Weinstien. You all know him as former LXW GM "Shameless Roy." Overload was gonna need a new GM, and he was the guy that Mr. G and Ms. Blackheart had at the top of their list. But Roy's pretty much done with the biz. Livin' it up with his 20 Somethin' year old wife down in Florida. But Roy made a recommendation, and sure enough, I was being called to NYC for an interview. And the end result, here I am. Now I've always been a hands on kinda' guy. And that's how I plan on running this show. I plan on gettin' some dirt under my nails. And I also plan on puttin' a few of the egos on Overload in check. One of those egos, is our National Champion, Primo Valiante.
The cheers change to boos from the mere mention of Primo's name.
Yea, I know how you all feel. Primo had a successful defense of the title a Vendetta, defeating a VERY game Finesse after dropping 2 in a row to him. So if there's one thing amongst others about Primo is that he can get the job done when it counts. Well Primo, you're going to need to pull that kinda' performance out again come Soul Survivor. Because right here, right now...I'm naming the No.1 Contender for the title. And that man...is Jimmy Ames.
A booming cheer explodes from the crowd.
Tony: Ames Vs. Primo at Soul Survivor? Now that's one hell of an announcement!
Oh but wait, I'm not done yet. There's another we have to take care of, and that's the newly renamed No Limits Title. Brian Yang has pretty much decimated every opponent he's faced since winning the title back in mid 2008. He's easily proven himself to be one of the best young talents in the business. Yea, the guy might be a prick, but he can wrestle his ass off. And that's what Yang's gonna have to do tonight, wrestle his ass off. Because tonight, Yang's gonna be competing in a Fatal Four way match.[/font]
*Pauses*
Hold on now. Before you come out out here with your thong in a bunch, it's going to be a non-title match. But there will be a stipulation attached to tonight's match. The wrestler who secures the pinfall or submission will gain themselves a No Limits Title shot at Soul Survivor. And if Yang happens to secure the pin or Tap Out, he can choose who he wants to face, or choose not to face anyone at all. But you're a fightin' champion, aren't ya' Brian? I know you'll pick someone. But who will you be picking from? Let's see...let...me...think....
How about...Kevin Hall for starters?
The crowd likes that idea, and responds with cheers.
I knew you'd like that. Who else though? How about Jimmy Vain. Sound good to you, folks?
They were liking that selection as well.
And what do you say we round thing trinity off with a wild card, eh? How about...the returning Matt Winters?
The roar of the fans reaches critical levels from that announcement.
Tony: Matt Winters? Back from his tour of Europe? That's HUGE!!! What a match!!!
Stan nods in approval before concluding.\
Tonight, we kick the new era of Overload into overdrive. We've got some big time fights lined up for you all. So sit down, grab your munchies and enjoy. If you though you saw it before, you ain't seen nothin' yet.
Stan's music hits the PA once again. He sets the mic down on the ring floor and exits. Already the O'Malley era of Overload was taking shape. The only question would be how the rest of the roster would respond to this new link in the chain of command.
