The camera’s head backstage again to Joe Beakman,
I am standing here now with another of the combatants in the ‘Bragging Rights’ match, a man some consider something of a surprise entry, Chris Dynamite…
Dynamite strolls into shot and looks Beakman up and down,
So Chris, can I get your thoughts ahead of what has to be the biggest night of your career thus far.
My thoughts? Well my first thought Fabiola is that you were much better looking last time I saw you. Frankly you look terrible today, make-ups awful and [whispers] you appear to have gained a few pounds!
I’m Joe Beak…
I know who you are! I’m trying to liven up your drab proceedings! Any-who tonight, Vendetta, ‘Bragging Rights’ the biggest opportunity of my career so far, and what have people been constantly asking me? ‘Hey Chris, how come you’re in the match?’ ‘Hey Dynamite you haven’t won, how come your in a #1 contenders match?’
Well it seems a reasonable question, why are you in the match tonight?
Dynamite raises an eyebrow and looks Beakman up and down,
Is there an echo in here? What is this? You can’t come up with questions of your own, so your stealing one’s that I mention? Huh? Why am I in the match? Simply put; opportunity! The future of this industry has to be groomed at the highest level. Would Babe Ruth have become as great as he was if he stayed with the Orioles? No, he needed to be at the top to become the best. And the XWA hierarchy recognise that, they recognise that the future stars of this industry need to be prepared at the highest level, and so we find ourselves here. You see there are far too many guys, older guys, desperately clinging to their spots in this industry, and most of the people watching don’t like seeing new faces headlining their shows, but the industry has to evolve, and I represent one part of that evolution. Hell look at me Joe, I’m just 22 years old, and I’m headlining an international pay-per view. Simply, I’m in the match tonight because I’m special, I’m an investment in this industry’s future, and I make all this look good!
But considering your, uh, ‘record’ thus far this year, do you see any problems with tonight’s match? I mean, on paper the Overload team do look stronger…
On paper? What is this sophomore art class? On paper doesn’t count for anything. Tonight is about title opportunities, now I may not be bosom buddies with any of my team mates, but we’re all fighting for one thing. I want what Payne wants and what Elsworth wants, and that’s to be in the Number 1 contender match at Mayday. And if we all have to coexist to get there then hell, we’ll do that. As far as our opponents go, well let’s just say that’s a lot of ego in one ring. Ryan Blaze is flying high this year, Van Hayden always accomplished, and always confident, and what do they know about ‘The Ace’? Absolu-tely nothing. Not a thing, Nada, and that’s my, sorry our, advantage. As far as O’Dell goes…well here is ego personified, and a man who I’m damn sure is taking me for granted. To be honest I am always impressed by O’Dell; that a guy with a head that big can get it that far up his ass, is simply stunning! But none of that matters, because when the lights shine bright, the music plays, and the crowd go wi-hi-hi-hi-ild, the spotlight will shine and we’ll see if those 3 can keep themselves in check long enough to beat us.
You seem to be fairly confident that your Takedown team can coexist without a problem, but you must be aware of the lingering issues between your team mates. And there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount of unity between you all. Have you had any contact with them?
Any contact? Do you do your research Joe? My head made plenty of contact with Elsworth’s foot only a few short days ago…
So there might be issues between you all that you need to sort…
First off don’t interrupt, it’s very rude! But you know what, you’re right. Damn Joe, I do need to talk to them. Hey with that kind of business brain maybe I should replace Emma here with you as my manager? Huh? [smirks and puts his hand mocking on Joe’s shoulder] Don’t you worry your little head about team Takedown, we’ll get our job done. And if Elsworth and Payne can’t coexist, then I’m there to patch things together, and make it all work.
So…
Dynamite puts his hand up to Beakman’s face,
But maybe you’re right. Maybe I should have a word with them before we start. And I think I’ll do that…right now!
And Dynamite spins away and walks out of shot, as the cameras linger on Beakman for a moment, then head back to ringside.
