Asthe pyro display ends, Vendetta was now live and on their air from the famed Tokyo Dome. XWA's annual event in the far east would 1st begin with the sound of Dio's "Holy Diver", the theme music to XWA VP Rodolphe Gallas. He emerges from backstage with mic in hand. After the cheers of the crowd begin to fade, Gallas gets down to business.
Welcome one and all to XWA Vendetta 2009. For 3 years, XWA has made 'ze trip here to Japan to showcase 'ze best wrestling in 'ze world. And tonight, 'ze global phenomenon 'zat it XWA will do it again. But unlike years past, Tonight's Pay Per View will be different. With 'ze splitting of 'ze male roster as result of 'ze draft, 'ze landscape of XWA has forever changed. Tonight will be a demonstration of 'zis change, as Vendetta will indeed be a "Versus" PPV in every sense of 'ze world. As you all can see above 'ze ring, there is a steel cage above our heads. Why is it 'zere? Just in case. 'Ze format for tonight's show will be a little different. It will be a night of open challenges. Any man or woman in XWA is free to challenge whomever 'ze so choose aside from 'ze champions of XWA. No no, I have something special planned for 'zem. So if a superstar from Takedown wants to face an Overload superstar, tonight such a match will be honored. Or if it's an opponent on 'ze same show as you 'zat you have never stepped in 'ze ring with, all you need to do is issue 'ze challenge. No match will be off limits tonight, and no challenge will go unanswered.
Willy: Wait, so you tellin' me that tonight only, ANYONE on roster can challenge anyone else, no matter what show they're on?
Tony: That would be a correct assumption my well dressed friend. The match up possibilities are endless!
Gallas nods and continues.
Now, on to 'ze subject of 'ze champions. Tonight, it has been decided by 'ze board of directors 'zat since we will have no means of determining No 1. Contenders for all respective titles, some'zing different will be done tonight. All Singles champions tonight aside from 'ze World Champion Syrus 'ze Entertainer can name 'zere challenges and challengers as 'ze see fit. And 'zey can defend 'zere respective titles as such. 'Ze title defense 'zat is a lock for tonight will be Kim Hunter and her partner Sireena taking on Japan's own Ina Morifuji & Bull Nagano for 'ze Sapphire Titles.
'Zis leads us to 'ze main event. A re-thinking of one of XWA's oldest matches. 'zat match is 'ze BRAGGIN' RIGHTS match. Tonight, it will determine 'ze next No.1 contender for Syrus 'ze Entertainer's World Title. On one side of 'ze ring, 3 Takedown Superstars. On 'ze other, 3 Overload Superstars...in a 6 man Elimination Tag match. 'Ze rules of engagement will go as followed, The winning team tonight, will face off at our next PPV Mayday: War Games to determine 'ze No.1 contender. If tonight's match ends in a 3 man sweep of 'ze other team, 'ze winning three will compete in a Triple Threat match. If 2 men on a team remain when all is said and done, it will be a 1 on 1 contest. And if be some chance only 1 man stands at 'ze end of 'ze night, he alone will be No.1 contender. So who are 'ze men who will partake in 'zis match? Wonder no longer...For Takedown, 'ze principals of 'ze match will be 'ze runner up in 'ze Grandslam Tournament Dante Elsworth, his nemesis and 2008 Combatant Xtraordinare Brandon Payne and rounding out 'ze trio, a new comer who has turned a lot of heads, 'zough not in 'ze good way, Chris Dynamite. And representing Overload, 3 former champions in XWA. Former Pure Champion Ryan Blaze, former National Champion Van Hayden and former World Champion Scott O'Dell. So without further delay, let the show begin.
Gallas' music cues up again, and he takes leave of the stage.
Buzz: Leave it to Mr. Gallas to kick the night off with a bang. Already we're going to see some incredible matches. The Sapphire Title defended AND the Braggin' Rights Elimination Tag Match. And that's on top of whatever other matches we see made tonight. Anyone can challenge ANYONE, Matt.
Matt: Take a powder keg and douse it with N20, light a match, and watch it go up. That's the equivalent of what's going to go down tonight here in Tokyo. This is going to be a night of epic encounters. It's a damn shame this might be the 1st and last time we see some of the match-ups we bare witness to tonight. But one thing's for sure, we're in for a hell of a night of wrestling. Ladies and gentlemen...
