March Madness was already shaping up to be an interesting PPV, and things were about to get that much more interesting as the entrance theme of "The Ice Queen" cues over the PA. The fans show her their usual "love" as she makes her way from the stage to the ring. She pauses at the foot of the ring steps to shoot a group of heckling fans a cold gaze before ascending and entering the ring. Once inside, a mic is supplied, and the floor is given to her to make her address.
Last week, I made my 2009 debut on Glitter in a Tornado Tag match with Ina, against my personal favorite whipping girl Kim Hunter, and her new friend Sireena. The same Sireena who I've heard oh so many things about. How she's supposed to be such a fearsome competitor. How she's one of the most talented and technically sound women in the sport. Quite frankly, I've heard it all before. These women who go over to Japan to wrestle think that they're all a cut about the rest. Not just Sireena. I'm speaking of women like my old friend Heather Fierhart. Women like Anjelyka. Women like Ashley Diamond. As if spending time in Japan is a right of passage. A badge of honor. Contrary to popular belief, Japan isn't the "staple" of wrestling Training. And neither is Canada for that matter. That distinction still is held by the continent where all of this, this very sport of wrestling originated...Europe.
The 1st, and most potent style of wrestling is called "Greco-Roman" for you simpletons who think Stu Hart invented the sport. Greco...which is a pseudonym for Greek, as in Greece, and Roman...meaning Rome, Italy. I hold more respect for someone who has cut their teeth in wrestling where I did. You see, Wrestling in Europe isn't the flashy glitz and glamor you see here in the US, and it's not what you see watch Puro in Japan either. Where I'm from, wrestling is brutal. It's a contest of not just skill, but conditioning and will as well. In Europe, you're more likely to see a match end in a KO more then a Tap Out. You're more likely to see a man carried out of an event on a stretcher then on his own two feet. Take a look at some of the competitors in XWA from Europe. Magnus Von Schwartz. Primo Valiante. Steven Higby. And of course myself. What do we all share in common? We're all from Europe, and we all have succeeded in spades over our North American counterparts.
Bianca gives a confident grin before continuing.
Last week left a sour taste in my mouth. No, not because I was on the losing team. No no no. Because I didn't get to do half of what I wanted to do in the ring. I've got a whole new bag of tricks this year. A bag of tricks that's going to take me to my rightful place, sitting atop my throne as Diamond Champion. My time has come, and a cold, cold wind is about to blow through Glitter that will chill anyone in my way to the bone. And right now, that just so happens to be you, Sireena. You did pretty well with that pathetic piff Hunter at your side, but I want to see if your hype is well deserved, or just a bunch of hot air like oooooooooooooh so many of the rest of the women of Glitter. No special stipulations. No tricks. No secret tag team partners. Part of showing the world that I am the best wrestler on Glitter, is beating my opponents in standard fair wrestling matches, something your friend Kim doesn't seem to get despite how many times I've beat her about the head neck and shoulders. So tonight Sireena, you have a small task at hand. And that's seeing if you can do something that she hasn't done...
Beat me one on one.
Grinning evilly, Bianca awaits the reply of Sireena.
