Madison Square Garden. The World's Most Famous Arena. The Mecca of Sports Entertainment for decades and tonight, the home of the XWA's first PPV extravaganza of the 2009 season. It kicks off in style with a pyro-technic shower of the set and the ring as thousands of New Yorkers already packed into sold out arena.

And then...

The crowd comes alive as the theme song of the current XWA World Champ "Get Real" starts to play.

Roach: Welcome to March Madness 2009 everyone! We're live from the sold out Madison Square Garden in New York City...and it looks like we're kicking things off tonight with the champ!

Buzz: He's got a tall order tonight though if he wants to stay that way though. A World Title match under Pure Rules against maybe the best pure grappler in the XWA, Magnus Von Schwartz!

Tony: Guys...watching this whole situation pan out the last couple of weeks, you hear the term "against the odds" or "overcoming odds" a lot in this business. I think tonight's World Title main event exemplifies that tenfold! This is not going to be an easy match that STE is going into, and he knows it. He said it himself if I recall that being the champion means that the competition is going to be that much greater, and to stay on top you have to step your game up. He's got to do that tonight, and if he does it's going to I think set a new precedent here in the XWA for anyone who aspires to be the best in the world.

The announce teams would be doing lots of analysis tonight, but there was no analysis in Syrus' head. There were only three things on his mind now, the ring, the title and the man who was challenging for it. He steps into the ring with the belt in tow and was showered with admiration from his fans. He looks on, looks around and then raises the mic to his lips.

New York City. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!!! WHAT'S...GOIN'...DOOOOOOOWWWWNNN!?

(Getting a huge pop...he pauses for a few seconds)

I'll tell you what's going down tonight. Me, stepping in this ring to face off against Magnus Von Schwartz for the XWA World Title in a Pure Rules match. It's never been done before, and there's a reason why. If we've learned anything about Pure Rules...it's that there's no room for errors or excuses. Pure rules is all about skill, strategy, timing, positioning, all those little things that a lot of cats out there don't a damn thing about in this game, but one man does. That's the man I facing tonight.

He nods, as the fans suddenly start to boo at the thought of MVS.

Hate him all you want, the man can wrestle his ass off. The man's been doing it way longer than I have, and he's in great shape too. He's got it all...Power, Technique, Submission, Durability, you name it! But you wanna know something, Maggie? I've got all of those qualities too!

You're always talking about being the "superior athlete" and all that. Last week was a photo finish, playa! You just got me off of a second wind after you realized that you weren't gonna just be able to throw me around all over the ring. There's something different going on tonight though...tonight, this here big old belt is on the line!

A slight pop from the crowd erupts as Syrus them raises the World Title off of his shoulder.

This right here is like the NBA Finals, or the World Series. This is where it counts the most. Yeah, we're 3 up and 3 down now head to head...so I guess that makes tonight Game Seven! They say that the odds are against me, they say that this match doesn't favor me, but they...and you...must not realize that we are in a magical place right now.

Buzz: Magical?

There's been a lot of memorable moments that have happened in this building. Some of the best athletes in the world have graced these halls and shown the world why they were the best at what they did. Jordan. Ali. Ewing. Messier. Gretzky. This is the building that XXL won this very title in at the first XGAMES. This is the building that Robby Sylk won it in at Independence Day. Tonight, in one tough match against one tough opponent, I'm gonna put my name on that list of great performers here in the M...S...G!!!

After he finishes speaking...suddenly Magnus' theme begins to play.

Magnus steps out from backstage to a not so welcoming ovation. As he walked down to the ring, the look on his face was one of confident individual.

Roach: If you asked Magnus himself about this match, he'd probably say that he feels that he's in the driver's seat right now. It seems that he has the edge against the champ even though he did only win their last match narrowly.

He steps into the ring and looks eye to eye at at the champ, just as it was a the end of the Takedown show the past week, and stoically responds to Syrus' speech.

Ah, this is what they meant when they coined the phrase "heart of a champion". Indeed Syrus, you do have the heart, and you yes are the champion until you are beaten. That tonight...shall come to pass however.

The sound of boos throughout the arena becoming deafening.

Allow me to elaborate on that in full. You see last week you gave me what it was that I desired. You gave me the "old" Syrus. You came to the ring with that tenacity and that ferocity that managed to defeat me three consecutive times last season...

...that old Syrus was eventually beaten.

That is because as I've stated all along, what you see before you is a "new" Magnus. One who is more tenacious, more ferocious than you could possibly fathom. I have honed my craft to the most exact science a human mind could concoct, and it is that exact science tonight that you will be taught inside of this ring under Pure Rules.

After a brief pause, he nods and almost cracks a grin. Rare for a man who never once showed a tinge of emotion in the ring.

Under Pure Rules was the means in which I ended "The Streak". Under Pure Rules was the means in which I defended the Pure Championship three times. It seems now a little...justified...that it shall be the means in which I win the World Title, for if these hallowed halls shall be shown anything tonight, it shall be that I...Magnus Von Schwartz...am the greatest pure grappler in the world today. That title around my waist shall all but solidify that truth.

Lowering the mic now, he awaited Syrus' next retort.

Buzz: This is really going to be a tough mountain to climb for the champ. This is Magnus' environment that he's stepping into, just like the man pointed out!

And Magnus did point it all out. All of the success he had under Pure Rules was well documented. Syrus took a moment to reflect on that fact and as he did, he decided to point out something that Magnus probably wasn't aware of in his overconfidence.

Yeah, you're right. You win tonight, that leaves no doubt in anyone's mind that you're the best in the business. Hell, you even beat the best wrestler in the entire XWA when everyone else fell short. I'm not gonna knock you on that, but you know something Maggie...this is all just a little bit of history repeating now that I'm thinking about it.

A year ago, you thought that I was gonna be some slim pickings, and look what happened? Anybody and everybody who thought that all I was was "song & dance" got themselves an attitude adjustment...and you know what's change from then until now?

Not a damn thing!!!

Here you go, thinking once again that you're Mr. High & Mighty, thinking that your going to beat me 1-2-3 easy tonight, just because this is "your match". But that's the beauty of being me, baby! I can do it all! I can take whatever you got head on and still keep coming back for more!

Syrus' spirited words get a rise from the crowd...

Tonight's just another night that I'm gonna have to prove to everyone in the back, and especially to you...that there's a reason why I have this belt on my shoulder, and that until I say otherwise...the XWA is running on PURPLE POWER!!!

Tony: You know guys, it sounds to me like Syrus is actually ready for this! Maybe it's not going to be as uphill a battle as we think...
