The bell rung, and it was like deja vu. For the second straight week Syrus was breathing heavy and picking himself up after getting the wind knocked out of him by that infamous tri-fecta of German suplexes as only Magnus Von Schwartz could deliver. He was so close to victory he could tasted it...after such a back and forth match-up that at times looked as if Magnus was dominating, only for STE to come back, only to come up short in the end.
Buzz: This seems like a total reverse of fate now. With this, it's now Magnus who's beaten Syrus twice in a row to start the 2009 season!
As Magnus' theme still played, the fans of course were none too happy of the result. The big German grappler marched triumphantly up the ramp before he stopped on the stage and looked back to the ring where the ref was checking on the champ.
Being the proud warrior he was, Syrus refused assistance and got up by his own power, of which the ref did hand him the XWA World Title. Yes, it was still his...but the poignant words of Mike Roach couldn't have set the stage for March Madness 2009 any better.
Roach: So now...just as Magnus had wanted it to be, the score is tied 3-3. The man who breaks the tie in MSG under Pure Rules is going to walk out of New York City as the XWA World Champion...and ever there was an obstacle to overcome, I think one stands on the stage now for Syrus Sykes in the form of Magnus Von Schwartz.
That's how this episode of Takedown drawd to it's conclusion...champion and challenger eye to eye from a hundred paces. One more round to go.
