Tony: At March Madness, live from MSG in in New York City, the most prestigious title in XWA's history will be on the line, as two bitter rivals will collide. "The Roman Crippler" Primo Valiante will defend the National Title against Finesse. Lets take a look back at this, what's become one of the fiercest rivalries in XWA.
A video package plays, showing highlight chronicling the early stages of the rivalry from Mid 2008 following Independence Day, all the way to Primo's victory at XGamesII for the National Title. After the footage airs, Overload goes backstage as Joe Beakmen stands by with Finesse.
Beakmen: For over 7 months, dating back to last year, you've been at war against the National Champion, Primo. And on well...all of the occasions you've been on the short end of the stick. Last week, you picked up your 1st win over him after countless attempts. It's gotta feel good to finally have that monkey off your back.
It should, shouldn't it? But here's some news for you. It doesn't. Last week didn't prove a damn thing. All it showed is that I can beat him. But anyone can beat the next guy. It's going to be if I can beat him when it counts. That'll be when the monkey is off my back.
Beakmen: So, you're not at all happy about opening up the season in the win column, against one of the greatest tacticians to ever step in a ring?
No, I'm not. Winning isn't what matters. How you win does. Just beating a man like Primo means nothing. Because all it does is make him stronger. He'll just go back, watch the tapes, analyze what mistakes he made, and come back even better the next time. No, no, no. Beatin' him ain't enough. Beatin' him with interest, THAT'S when the victory can be savored.
Finesse turns his gaze to the camera, speaking directly to Primo.
Primo, I've dealt with you long enough to know that you don't get mad, you get even. Well I'm not gonna give you the satisfaction. I know that you've got ya' boys Jasta & O'Dell backing you. But this? This is between you, me and that National Title. If you wanna get even, see me in the ring tonight. Man to man, just like last week.
Beakmen: Ya' think that's wise? I mean, Primo's well known to be a pretty sore loser. He's delivered some of his worst beating after a loss.
What I think...is that if Primo's any bit the competitor he touts himself as being, he'll see me in that ring. Let's see if he can back his talk about being a proud "Gladiator", or if it was all just hot air.
A nod and smirk follow his final statement. Overload goes to break following the interview.
