Marisol Cardinale's Profile...
* Height: 5'9"
* Weight: 133lbs.
* Hair: Light Brown
* Eyes: Brown
* Hometown: Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia
* Age: 27
* Years In Wrestling: 3
* Theme Song: "Beautiful Liar" by Beyonce & Shakira
* How It Started: My father was a legendary wrestler who wrestled in Mexico and Japan. My mother died while I was a baby, so he raised me on his own mostly and mostly on the road, so I learned a lot about this sport just by watching him. He grew ill 3 years ago after I began modeling professionally, and that's when I made a promise to him that I would carry on his legacy myself. I gave up modeling after that and went into wrestling full time.
* Gimmick: I love this business and I have a deep respect for it as well. I show it every time I step into the ring. They say I have a little bit of a "hot Latin temper" sometimes, too...maybe I do a little bit. ;D
* Wrestling Style: I have been able to add a lot of technique to my style that are from all the different corners of the wrestling world, from martial arts to submissions to lucha libre.
* Gear/Outfit/Costume: I wear red and white colors now because it symbolizes Japan. I've fallen in love with the country since I spent so much time there the last year in training. Aside from that, I do have to look sexy in the ring...I was a model after all.
* Titles Held: I've not yet won a singles title, but I did hold half of a tag championship in a Canada-based company. That's all in the past though, I'm focused on my present and future now.
* Biggest Win: There are two for me, first was winning the 2008 Boot Camp Match which earned me a spot in the women's main event at XGAMES. The second was winning a hard fought Ironwoman match at Independence Day against Tiffany Masterson. I still couldn't tell you which one was more physically demanding.
* Worst Loss: I was completely overwhelmed by the offensive ability of Tiffany the second time we faced each other, and she ended up defeating me in about 5 minutes. There was that, and then there was losing a match in early 2008 to Channelle which wouldn't have been so bad if my mentor Tadako Anenokoji were not at ringside. She says it's not that big of a deal, but I still want to make her proud.
* Favorite Type of Match: I don't really have a niche or area of expertise.
* Favorite Moves/Holds: My favorites are a few new moves I hope I get the chance to use this season. There's the Leg Slicer, which is one of the moves my sensei Tadako Anenokoji uses herself, and one I like to call the "Mari-Go-Round".
* Finisher: My main finisher has always been the "Red Storm Slam", even though that's not always been it's name. It's a wheelbarrell suplex basically.
* Biggest Allies: I owe a lot of my success last year to my training in Japan with Tadako-sensei. Of course then there is also my fellow Sensationals, Amber and Jamie.
* Most Hated Enemies: That, as of last year is two women, Channelle Valencia and especially Tiffany Masterson. I'm quite sure she wants to pick up where we left off, and I have no objection with that.
* Favorite Wrestlers: Tadako-sensei, because she's so precise when she wrestles, it's amazing. I will always remember my father's matches as well. It's my dream to be able to perform on the level that he did.
* Wrestling Ambition: To become a champion. It's been a gradual progression for me the last three years, and now I aim to follow my friends' example and capture championship gold this season.
Mari's Personal Notes...
I love this sport. I have from a very young age, since birth even. It's in my Columbian blood, which is why I take so much pride in what I do. I despise those who are here just to gain popularity and fame, because I believe that should be a side effect, not a main effect. The reason why one wrestles should be to compete and to perform.
You can see and feel that passion I have for this in everything that I do and I say. That's because it all means something to me, something more important than most anyone can understand. The promises that I've made to the people I care about and the ones I've made to myself are ones that I intend on keeping no matter what the cost is to my body. I aspire to be one of the all-time greats. To have my name be spoken in the way they speak of mi papa "El Cardinal Rojo" or "The Tokyo Tsunami" herself.
I know that I have a ways to go before I get there. This will be my continuing journey down that road.
