Meeting Up [Romeo]

Val approached the café where he was to meet Romeo, it wasn’t the same one he was thrown out of. “Thank you” Val said as the door was held open for him by a fellow patron. Val found a table to set at and he glanced at the menu, some breakfast would be nice now as he left home in a rush without eating. Glancing at the menu he read aloud the items that he deemed too fattening for him to eat. Finally he came to something that he could eat.

“Not very appetizing if I am honest.”

Val thought best to wait for Romeo so they could eat together after all it was the polite thing to do, a waitress approached and she smiled at Val before saying “What you having stranger?” Val thought for a moment before responding.

“I think I am going to wait for my friend to arrive before I order anything.”

“OK sugar.” The waitress said as she left the table to go and serve other customers, Val pulled out my phone just to check the time and yeah he was a little earlier than expected but there wasn’t too long to wait for Romeo assuming that he was punctual.

Into the café stepped Romeo Davis. He and Val had set up a time to just meet up and speak about the upcoming season. Romeo thought it would be polite to let Val know a little about the business and what it had to offer. He was sporting a pair of blue jeans and a plain white undershirt. Over the shirt was his leather jacket which he loved to wear. He scanned the area quickly looking to see of Val had already gotten there. He spotted him three tables before him. He made his way to the table and took a seat across from Val. He removed his leather jacket and placed it behind him over his chair. He then turned to face Val.

Valll, what up bro?

“Hey man, not bad just waiting for you so I can get something to eat, how’s it going” Val said as he initiated a grasp of hands, he then looked toward the waitress to signal her over so they could order something. Val knew what he wanted from the menu besides a coffee that is. The waitress came over and Val ordered a coffee and an omelet it was the best thing for him on the menu. The waitress scribbled down his order and turned to Romeo asking “What would you like sugar?”

“Come on bro anything you want it’s on me.”

Thing are actually goin’ real well right ‘bout now.

The waitress then makes her way over to the table. Romeo, who had just entered the scene, hadn’t looked through the menu yet. He quickly scanned through looking for anything that sounded appealing. It was a pretty tough choice. He couldn’t decide whether to get a plain American cheese omelet or steak and eggs. The waitress was waiting so he had to make a decision.

I’ll have a hot cocoa and an American cheese omelet with home fries on the side please. Also can I have wheat toast too?

The waitress nodded her head and was on her way. Romeo shifted his attention back to Val.

So man, what’s goin’ on? How’s life treatin’ ya’? How’s the lady friend haha?

“Me and Cassie are doing great. I don’t want to go too far into it if you catch my drift” Val said with a wink. Val looked around the café and then back to Romeo.

“Other than that I have just been trying to stay in shape for the start of the season”

Val had been trying to maintain his size but add a little speed to it, so that he wouldn’t get caught out so much in the ring. Val was looking a little leaner and certainly had a sparkle in his eyes, so everything was going good for him and he was excited to begin the season. The drinks arrived and Val took a sip of his and a nod in the direction of the waitress “Thank you.” He said before looking at Romeo.

“First thing I need to ask is who is it best not to piss of in XWA, I don’t want to upset the wrong person if you know what I mean.”

Val chuckles as he finishes that sentence he wasn’t in the habit of pissing people off but it would be nice to know exactly who you definitely shouldn’t annoy.

Romeo takes a sip of his hot cocoa before responding to Val.

I’d have ta’ say don’t piss off Primo, Bryan Jasta, or Scott O’Dell. When I pissed off Primo I most surely did pay for it after. Him and his lil’ buddies attacked me after a match. It was one of the biggest beat downs I’ve experienced. I was lucky enough that others came down to the ring ta’ stop them. I don’t even wanna know what would happen if no one came to my aide. So if you’re gonna mess wit’ Primo, make such ya’ got backup. Now wit’ Jasta, if ya’ piss him off he’ll demolish you in the ring. I heard right before I entered the business that one wrestler pinned him in a tag team match last season. Jasta challenged him ta’ a match and obliterated him. The man never returned to the ring. It was stated that he suffered a serious concussion. So don’t mess wit’ Jasta just like that. Make sure if ya’ get into a match wit’ him to bring your all and some. Now onto O’Dell, there really isn’t much ta’ say ‘bout him but he’ll beat you down also if ya’ mess wit’ him. So there’s my take on whom not ta’ piss off. There are others but those are the main three I think.

After speaking on the three men to stay away from, Romeo takes another sip of the cocoa before asking Val a question.

So Val, what do ya’ want to accomplish in your first season while here in the XWA?

“Well now I know.” Val said as he nodded before listening to Romeo’s question, and he took a sip of his coffee before responding.

“I’d be lying if I wasn’t hoping for some gold at some point in the season, but I’d like to have some interesting feuds and get some good TV time and build a fan base. Of course with you as my main man I can see us taking a run at the tag titles and who knows maybe the big boys will give us the ball and allow us a reign.”

Val smiles as he is maybe getting ahead of himself but he thought sticking with Romeo could be the best thing for his personal life and his career. After all Romeo was taking the time to meet and seemed like a great guy. Then the food arrived and the waitress placed it on the table, Val smiled and said “Thank you, it looks great.”

Thanks for the food!

The waitress smiled as she was on her way. The omelet looked great and Romeo grabbed his fork and cut a piece. With the piece on the fork he lifted it to his mouth and took his first bite. It had to be one of the best omelets that he’s had before. He finished chewing and swallowed the food. He then responded to Val.

Good plan same. Yeah it’s always good ta’ build up a small fan base. That’s what I did and I got a good amount of fans out there. As for the tag titles, I can see that happenin’ somewhere down the line. Of course when they see us challenge for the titles they are gonna say that you are new and haven’t done anything in the business. That’s why we’ll build you up first. I have a feelin’ that you are gonna have a good rookie year. I don’t know what it is but it’s there. I can feel it, big things are gonna come outta ya’.

After speaking, Romeo returned to eating his omelet. He waited to hear a response from Val.

Val smiled as the vote of confidence from Romeo was nice and he didn’t want to disappoint him at all. Val took a piece of omelet it tasted good too and he cut another piece “I expect big things out of myself, not arrogance but I am confident I’ll be trying my best” he said before putting the piece into his mouth.

“I mean I worked toward being a body builder and I found it wasn’t my thing and my sister told me to try wrestling as she enjoys it too. So I got trained and here I am just itching to get my chance to show the world what I can do.”

Val then took another piece of omelet and smiled, “This is really good food, I’ll have to come here again.” Talking with his mouth full but his words were clear so it wasn’t so rude. Val swallowed “Sorry about that.”

“So we are doing this gig and for sure, I am going to make so I won’t let you down man.”

Man I know for sure none of us is gonna let the other down.

For a moment Romeo stopped speaking so that he could continue eating his omelet with home fries and toast. After eating a good amount of the food on the plate, he decided to speak again.

Yeah it’s good that ya’ began a wrestler. I was gonna be a soccer player. I had scholarships and everything. I went to UNC and played soccer there but it was wrestlin’ that I really wanted ta’ do. It’s just addictin' I guess. Also wit’ the mentality you have, you will become a great wrestler. Don’t worry ‘bout workin’ wit’ me the whole time. You can go the singles rout if ya’ wanna. I will always have your back so things will be all good. I don’t know what your style will be like, but it’s cool cause it will make it that much easier to surprise people. Haha, just don’t do what I did in my first match. I had complete control but then at like around the middle of the match I started foolin’ around and let’s just say I was real close to losin’. Just go out there, do your thing, and come out with a victory. Go big or go home, that’s how I see things. It’s good ta’ have someone who’s been in the business before so that they can let ya’ know what mistakes not ta’ make. I didn’t so I kinda messed up big time at some points.

Romeo then continued eating his meal as he waited for a response from Val.
