Ready 2 Rumble (Bryan Jasta)

As the entrance theme of Van Hayden airs over the PA, the crowd comes to it's feet as the fan favorite enters the arena. Give 5's on his way down to the ring, he slides into the ring and hops up to the second rope, raising his fists in the air. Van calls for a mic, and immediately begins his speech to the Phoenix fans.

Two weeks ago, while the rest of the roster was in Europe, I opted to sit out the European tour to get some extra training in. Because I have ever intention on holding XWA Gold. And that's the reason I'm in this ring tonight. You see, in my brief time here in XWA, I've seen and done alot. I've been a few A-Class matches against some world class wrestlers. I've had the opportunity to team up with a guy who I can honestly say I'll go to war with anytime in Ryan Fierhart. But tonight, it's about Van Hayden stepping his game up.

The crowd begins to cheer even louder as Van paces the ring. He bring his mic up again to speak.

Now there's a guy backstage who I've watched closely since the moment I joined XWA. A man who may just possibly be the best shooter in the game today. And that man is the reigning National Champion, Bryan Jasta...

Boos begin to swell from the crowd from Jasta's name.

Nownow, c'mon people. He may be a complete and total asshole. But there's no denying he's one of the best wrestlers in the game. A man that few men can match up with man to man. But ya' see, I'm not one of those men. And that's the reason why tonight, in this ring, I'm CHALLENGING you...Bryan Jasta...to a one on one fight for the XWA National Title. You've got something that I want, and I'll be damned if I don't get it.

As Van lowers his mic, the crowd roars in cheer from his challenge to the champion. He awaits his response.

After a brief moment of silence, E. Town Concrete's "Pariah" hits the PA, and the crowd jeers as Bryan Jasta enters the arena. With the National Title draped over his shoulder, and a mic in hand, Jasta stands on the set, looking down the walkway at his would-be foe. He brings his mic to his lips to respond to the challenge.

Van Hayden. One of the DEFINITE candidates for "Rookie Of The Year". The fans love you. Many of the guys backstage respect you. But me? I'm not all the way convinced you're on the level. You've had some decent matches against Kwik Williams. You've had some solid showings in a few Multi-Man matches. You've shown that you're a "team player" in siding with Fierhart on a few occasions. But are you REALLY ready to step against one of wrestling's elite? And I say that not in just being National Champion. I say that in being the man in XWA that NO ONE dares face in that ring. The man who could run rings around the three gentlemen partaking in that little Triple Threat Tonight. I AM the best pound for pound fighter in this company. Not wrestler, FIGHTER. And asshole can do a moonsault, learn a submission hold and coin a ridiculous catch phrase and call themselves a "wrestler". But I'm one of the few that can call himself a GLADIATOR.

He smirks as the crowd's boos grow louder.

So now, here stands you. One of XWA's bright young superstars. Looking to get his first taste of title gold. The problem is, I think you chose the wrong champion. You might have stood a better shot going after that washed up old buzzard, Testudo. All you'dve had to do is kick him in the leg and make his hip break or something...

The crowd's boos intensify even more from Jasta's jab at the new Pure Champion.

...But to your credit, I suppose you chose me and the National Title because of the prestige of this belt. Despite the fact that two of the men who've held this belt before me were absolute JOKES of wrestlers, as well as pathetic human beings, there's no question that this remains one the most sought out titles in wrestling. The problem is, it's found it's home here on MY shoulder. And I don't see ANYONE removing it from there. My reign as National Champion is going to make Luther's title streak look like when Ryan Blaze kept the Pure Title warm for Kris Cade for a month. So as far as your challenge goes, it's accepted. Because challenging Bryan Jasta is one thing. BEATING him is another.

Jasta gives a devilish grin as he lowers his mic. He awaits Van's reaction.

Van gves a nod to the crowd. Jasta made some decent points, but Van had other ideas.

That may be very well & good, champ. But there's one thing you fail to realize.

I'M NOT JUST ANYBODY!!!

Let me re-introduce myself to you. My NAME...is VAN HAYDEN. And I came to XWA for a purpose. That purpose is to leave my stamp in this business. When the book closes on my career, I want to be recognized as one of the best to put on a pair of boots. And part of becoming that is NOT backing down to every tough opponent you come across in this ring. And grant, you're one tough hombre. REAL tough. But does that phase me? HELL NO!!! Because tonight, I'm coming for that title. And I'm bringing the A-GAME. Win or lose, when you walk out of this ring, the name Van Hayden is going to be BURNED in you skull.

The arena roars in approval as Van awaits Jasta's reply.

Jasta continues to grin as Van speaks. When finished, he readies his reply.

Is that so, Mr. Hayden. Well then, I suppose that I might actually want to pay attention to what you do in the ring then. I wouldn't want to miss anything that might be "innovative". However, if there's ANYONE who's going to be leaving a truly lasting impression, it'll be me. After tonight, there will be no doubt in ANYONE'S mind that I am the best pound for pound shooter in the business. You moment of truth has come, Hayden. We'll see what you do with it later tonight.

With that, Jasta's music plays over the PA, and he holds the National Title high over his head. A challenge made, a challenge accepted. All that remain now was the fight for the title itself.
