At an XWA House Show earlier this month, some XWA Superstars were heckeld at ringside by what appeared to be rebel wrestlers from an independent promotion. These individuals apparently bought tickets to the show with the intention of causing a disturbance to the XWA Live Event.
I was at ringside for this show, and what I could say about these men was that they were very physical and didn't mind showing that fact. Luckily there were no blows between them and our XWA talent, but one of them did strike event security towards the end of the show, leading to the group being escorted out of the arena, but not without a fight. Whether or not there were charges pressed on them remains to be seen.
They seemed to be particularly aggressive when the more established names of the XWA made their appearances for this show, especially our first Combatant Xtraordinaire, Kayn. Though he managed to perform as he usually does you could see a certain level of frustration build from this groups blatant lack of respect.
A few days ago I spoke to XWA's President and CEO Carmella Blackheart and this is what she had to say:
"It's old news that right from the moment the XWA opened that we were in the face of other organizations who wanted to see us go under. Despite their smear tactics and rumor spreading we managed to persevere and grow while they were the ones who failed and folded.
Now it seems that a new organization has decided to pick up where the others left off, and they also seem to be taking a more direct approach. While I have to commend them for their bravery, I doubt that trying to get into the face of XWA's superstars will do anything for their credibility. It's not what you say against others that garners respect, it's what you do on your own.
I'd like to know what company they're from...but I doubt we'd find out because their actions are probably so much of an embarrassment to that promotion that they'd never reveal where they wrestle. I just hope this is an isolated incident. If it's not, then we as a corporate entity will take the neccessary legal actions to ensure the smooth operation of our shows and the safety of our fans, staff and talent."
As we continue to follow the situation, I'll have more information for you as it surfaces.
