*Sighs* Seems like only yesterday that I dove head first into this crazy world we call e-fedding. Its been about 4 years (counting the upcoming 2009 season) that I have had the pleasure of being involved in various fantasy wrestling leagues, and what a wild ride it has been.
So many stories to tell about Brandon "Genesis" Payne. Some of em good, some of them bad, alot of them unfortunately, very ugly LOL. But in the end, its all been worth it.
Gosh.. so many different feuds/storylines/rivalries to talk about with this character, lol. And I think the best way to do this is by doing a little Q&A session. I'm going to start this out by doing a few questions with myself, and afterwords. If anyone has a question they would like to ask me about BP. Post it, and I'll answer it as soon as I can.
Q: What was the original concept behind the Brandon Payne/Genesis character during your debut for TNB Wrestling ?
A: At that particular time frame, Brandon Payne (who was known as Genesis), was a combination of a few different wrestling characters molded into one. Genesis has the arrogance of 'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan, where he felt like he was better then everyone in the league. Even though he was just a rookie starting out. When I tried to go on the smart-ass, comedy route. I took alot of things from Christian Cage primarily. I loved his style on the mic and felt it would be an easy thing to carry over to Genesis. Triple H, for his intensity and making Genesis feel like he was the shit in pro wrestling (laughs). No one was better then he was, he viewed himself as being the greatest thing since sliced bread. And finally, when it comes to championship belts. I'd have to say again, Triple H and even Edge on some cases. To this very day, I always push Brandon Payne as a guy who has to have the gold around his waist 24/7 to give him that confidence of feeling like he is truly on top of the world. And, when he doesn't have the belt. He'll do anything in his power to get it. Push himself to his limits and find a way to go further beyond if he has to. And honestly, if BP had some how managed to win more World Championship Belts then anyone in the wrestling world. He would not be satisfied, LOL. As thats just the top of guy Brandon Payne/Genesis is. If he wins say 10 World Titles in his career. He's gotta push himself to go to 20, and further beyond, ya know.
Q: Is it more fun controlling Brandon Payne as a face or as a heel ?
A: I'd have to say heel. For some reason, being a heel just comes naturally to me. I mean, you can think about a million different ways to get people to hate you and it never gets old pissing people off . Can't get any better then that. Being a face can be fun at times too, but it has its quirks. And... I think if you wanna see Brandon Payne at his BEST, he's gotta be the heel or the bad guy.
Q: Where do you see the Brandon Payne character going into the 2009 season ?
A: For 2009, I'd really like to basically take everything I've done this year and do it all over again. I can see BP getting into more heated feuds. Rekindling his rivalry with a few familiar faces from the past, and some with XWA wrestlers whom he has yet to face. I gotta say that the 2008 season has been a very successful one for BP, and if I could go into 2009 with that same approach, and maybe add a title run or two to that mix. I think you'll see Brandon Payne having another very successful year.
In all honesty, as long as the XWA is doing well, I'm happy. I mean, no matter what Brandon Payne does next year. As long as XWA is going strong and as long as I can find a way to have BP contribute to the success of the federation. That's all that really matters in my book .
