Yep.
I was just looking over at Code-X to recap the ability hacks lists for my own CAWS, and then I realized this...
CAW 1 004705DC 000000?? = Ability 1 004705DD 000000?? = Ability 2 004705DE 000000?? = Ability 3 004705DF 000000?? = Ability 4 004705E0 000000?? = Ability 5 004705E1 000000?? = Ability 6 004705E2 000000?? = Ability 7 004705E3 000000?? = Ability 8
Dem crazy SOBs done hacked it so that you can have a max of 8 Abilities!!! Now...how could we possibly take advantage of this?
For starters, I'm already going to be giving my "boss" characters for the major storyline of 2009 these added slots for more firepower (gotta make them tough to beat you know). Now for the regular roster however, that's where things get interesting. I was thinking that we grant a character the extra slots based on what else? They're roleplaying performance! I'd like to know how you guys might like to be able to use the wealth.

I just came up with a decent proposal. So that there's less of a gap in terms of hardcore style matches...we could have it so that anyone who doesn't have the Object ability can add it with a free slot right off the bat. Those few who already have would be able to pick another ability for that free slot to even things out.
That would open up way more potential hardcore elements for matches (especially for the Diamonds), and create a bigger grid of possible contenders for the X-Gen Title.

While the object thing is a decent idea, it's not a prudent one. Not everyone has proficiency with weapons. What would Ashley Diamond look like doing a Van Daminator? Doing that would devalue the "Hardcore" abilities IMO. Because everyone would have it, but not everyone will even use it. I would say a defensive ability would better be put into one of those slots, Lock-Pick. It gives everyone the ability to be able to break free of Submissions, and most notably submission finishers. Or better still then Lock-Pick...the KO ability. That's a universal ability that can be used by anyone no matter their size, and it will also enable us to make use of the old school Shoot-Fight match we used to run in LXW, where victory came from that of a KO only. If everyone has that ability, then everyone can utilize that match. A number people have stated they have no interest in X-Gen (Of note XXL and other such handlers), so why would we make one of the bonus Abilities one that will be predominantly used in a match type that some have no interest in?

I like the KO idea, but I was "this" close to being able to see extreme happen "this" close honestly, though I don't care.....it's just a good idea to utilize this

There would only be a select few female characters I could see being able, or for that matter even fitting the persona of using Object as an ability. While XWA does have a plethora of female character types, the rough and tumble brawler chick isn't one of them. You've got Kim, you've got Hayley, Sara Beck, Holly Woodz, Bianca, Michelle and Helena, that's about it. Everyone else are more finesse wrestlers. However, KO makes far more sense, because as Oz said it opens up more options match wise, as well as gives everyone from Diamonds to X-Gen and everything in between some extra pop to their finishers, and I would like to see what this "Shoot Fight" match is all about. Of course Cody already has KO as an ability, so for those who do use it, I'd suggest supplementing them with another ability, anything but Object. Because not everyone does Hardcore, and as Oz said, it would devalue the X-Gen giving the entire league one of the pre-requisite X-Gen abilities.

We could use the 2 additional abilities to supplement existing ones. Like say for example you have Submission as an ability, but not Lock Pick. We can add Lock Pick to their skill set to make them more complete. It needs to be used as a means to augment and better what an individual character does normally, as opposed to just a cosmetic addition that most probably won't even use.

The easy answer to that would be options. With the ability to do it, don't you think that would make people have an interest in being a part of that particular style? A big reason why some have no interest is because they couldn't integrate that into their style of CAW. Adding that ability instantly integrates it into their style, and since it's not a regular style of match, that wouldn't put them at an advantage against those who don't have the ability when they aren't wrestling that style of match.
The suggestion is to have one universal bonus for everyone to use if they choose to. If not, then they will have to earn the extra ability through role playing if they want to have some thing extra that makes they're CAW potentially stronger.

Honestly they both sound like good ideas...what X said is true it would be more of a passive ability to the more traditional wrestlers and truth be told in acutal wrestling if you think about it everyone uses weapons once and awhile. The KO thing would also be a good idea seeing as yes everyone should be able to KO anyone with all the nasty moves we all have in our movesets.
Earning another ability sounds....ok it might even out those who can roleplay strong but can't make good moveset *cough* me....so yea as usual I agree with you all ;D

I think it's a great idea only thing that would be a pain is figuring out on what you want.

Those few who already have would be able to pick another ability for that free slot to even things out. No offense, but if you're going to quote, try reading everything first.

My mistake, I misread your post. The question then is what do we get to pick from them?

EDITED FOR CONTENT:
The first course of action seems to be the one that will cause me less stress, so if you want them, you'll earn them through roleplaying, period.

The situation is now nipped in the bud. The extra ability feature will be a bonus to those who roleplay well enough to earn it. Now everything's even and those who gain the advantage will do so because they have a strong character, not a strong CAW. Carry on.
