Coming in from an Girl Fight Ad segment, Van Hayden stands backstage with the vaunted National Title draped over his shoulder. The crowd cheers as the proud champion prepares to make his long awaited announcement.
For the last two weeks, two men having been jockeying for position for a shot at The National Title. Those men are Finesse, and "The Roman Crippler" Primo. Two men I've had the distinction of going against in the ring with. Two men who last week put on a match for the ages. Finesse is one of the brightest new talents in the game. Since coming into XWA he has done nothing but impress. He's beaten fellow new comers and savvy veterans alike. And then there's Primo. There's nothing that even needs to be said about him. Pound for pound he might be the greatest pure athlete in wrestling. Power, speed, and technical acumen beyond his age. Last week, they fought tooth nail, all in hopes of solidifying my decision tonight. And last week, Primo won. But even in losing, Finesse held his own until the bitter end. He showed the poise of a man who will not only be champion one day, but possibly one of the all time greats in the sport.
The fans continue to cheer in the arena. Van acknowledges and continues.
So for the last week, I've been mulling over the perspective possibilities. Thinking about who I could face that would give me the best possible match. And then it dawned on me. In a flash of clarity, I figured out which one of them could give me the match I'm looking for. A match worthy to defend this title, the most defended title in XWA. BOTH OF THEM.[/font]
Cheers boom out from the fans.
Tonight, I'm putting the XWA National Title on the line against both Finesse and Primo, in a Triple Threat Match. You're both fierce competitors, and you both want to be the next men to hold this belt. Now's you're chance, fellas. Oh, and by the way. Just for this match, I'm personally tossing the XWA Multi-Man match clause out of the window. Whoever wins tonight, walks out of Texas the National Champion. And bet your damn asses that I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that the man who does is me. Game On, gentlemen.
And so the choice was made. Now all that was left was the matter of wrestling, with the National Title hanging in the balance.
