The Devil's Night PPV was now upon us. Only now two shows away from the finish of the 2008 XWA Season, and nobody it seemed now was more psyched than the new Pearl Champion. Her theme music began to play, and the fans stood to their feet to greet her just as they usually do in any arena on any night.
But of course, tonight was different. Tonight as she stepped out from backstage, her smile was brighter than it probably had ever been in her entire career in pro wrestling...and of course...she was about 12 pounds or so heavier this time around. ;D
She held the title high as she waved to the crowd on her way down to the ring. She was still riding high after one classic battle against Sonya Robbins and the victory that netter her first championship ever. It was as if there was a weight that was off of her shoulders now. With her two friends in high profile matches, and countless rivals who had been champions before, even though she didn't need it, she was glad she had it, and it showed.
Now she stood inside of the ring with a mic in her other hand, and a clear agenda tonight in Texas.
Now...if you're me you pretty much look stunning in anything. ;D But I have to say, now that I have this baby...do I look good with a title belt or what?
She grinned as the fans gave her a fairly satisfying answer.
It's been a long time coming, me actually hold a title belt. For years I've trained and competed. For years I've soaked in the bright lights and behind the scenes of this business we call wrestling, and through it all I done a lot I have to say...but nothing...nothing feels better than being able to call yourself a champion!
It's an accomplishment that not a lot of people get the chance to have, and that's what was my motivation last week against Sonya Robbins. I knew it three weeks ago when she defended this title against three other Diamonds, I knew it two weeks ago when she defended it again, and I knew it last week when I faced her one-on-one. There goes one girl who knows how to seize the opportunity for all it's worth.
The fans thoroughly agree with her, cheering the former champion's name in unison. She nodded and smiled and continued on.
That's why tonight, I want to give her another opportunity. Tonight, I want to give you the chance to win this title back Sonya. You've got a rematch clause, and I've got no one else to face, so it's a win-win situation. Before last week, I had my sights set on Girlfight...but the Pearl Title kinda changed all that. I can guess that was what was probably on your mind now that you don't have a title, but if there's one thing I know about you from seeing you in action is that you love to be in action.
So let's do it again Sonya, one more time for the people! You and me for the Pearl Title, and the winner can kick back and watch everyone else go nuts at the Hammerstein for that last XGAMES spot. Like I said, it's a win-win!
