Moving On (Magnus)

[Romeo Davis]

It was a brand new week in the XWA. During the previous week, Romeo Davis fell short in the tournament to Nathan Browne. It was a felt fought match, but the better man and who wanted it more came out the victor. But now it was time to look forward and the XWA had returned to the states. The XWA had come to the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Romeo thought about this all week and now it was time to make his thoughts, actions.

He stepped out from his locker room and made his way through the halls of the arena until he reached the black curtain. His theme music began to play throughout and he emerged from the backstage area to a great ovation. He has made himself a crowd favorite since he stepped into the business. Seeing the fans cheering always put a smile on his face. He walked down the ramp and entered the ring. From there he was handed a microphone. He stood in the center of the ring for a moment staring at the crowd. He smiled and lifted the microphone up to his lips.

"I haven’t done this in a while, but I’m gonna do it right now for y’all."

He lowered the microphone for a moment then returned it to its previous position.

"WHAT UP SAN ANTONIO?"

The crowd erupted after hearing the question. Romeo was pumped up even after the lost in the past week. It didn’t seem to phase him since he was looking forward now. After a few moments of hearing the crowd cheering, he began to speak.

"Aight so I know y’all saw what happened last week at Only the Strong. Well if ya didn’t then I’ll tell ya. I lost the second round match to Nathan Browne. Yea, he put on a show and wanted it more than I did by the way the match went. That night I lost to the better wrestler and I’m gonna admit that right now and just get it off my chest and move on. With that in the past it’s time to move onto tonight. So there’s this thing that has been on my mind for a while. There was a match in the past that I did pretty darn well in and it got me to thinkin’. That match was a Pure Rules match. Now some of you may know what I’m takin’ ‘bout right now. I think that Pure Rules is defiantly the rout that I wanna go. I watched Kayn and his dominance with that Pure title around his waist. Then he finally lost the title to the dude Magnus Von Schwartz. That match was one of the best that I have seen between two great pure wrestlers. I want my name to go down on that list also. So if ya haven’t guessed by now what I’m doin’ then I’m gonna tell y’all right now. I’m out here to challenge Mr. Von Schwartz to a Pure title match here tonight."

The crowd began to cheer after hearing this. By the sounds of the cheering it seems as if the fans want to see the match.

"Oh yea. This is want I wanna do. This is a shot that I want here tonight. Magnus, I know ya know who I am cause earlier in the season we had ourselves a little run into. Now it’s time for us to step into this ring and put it all on the line for the XWA Pure Championship. I’ve been patient waiting for this time. I’ve been in a feud with Primo for a long time and finally ended it all after beating him in his own match at Solstice. So Magnus come on out here bro. Let’s make this match official. I don’t know if you’re down for this match, but I know for sure that I am and I’m ready to go right here right now. Come on bro, let’s do this."

The microphone was lowered. Romeo’s heart raced as he waited for Magnus to make his way down to the ring. He was sure that he wanted this match but it was up to Magnus to accept the challenge. Romeo began to control his breathing as he continued to wait.

[Magnus Von Schwartz]

It took almost no time flat for Magnus' theme to begin to play. As it seemed to be the case in most venues, the reaction to Magnus emerging from the back was one of mixed nature. Some probably didn't find his straightforwardness to be very "entertaining", but there were those who were more than respectful now of the wrestling ability the man possessed.

Roach: At one point in time, you could probably have blown Von Schwartz off as a supremor-a man who looks down on everyone else. But each and every week, we see more and more deeper into the mindset of this man, and you have to respect what he's all about.

Buzz: You're right. Little by little you get the idea that MVS is the kind of guy who just plain ol' eats, sleeps and breathes wrestling. I never thought I'd say it...but I do kinda respect the man's game right about now. I mean, in the last four weeks he's beaten a former World Champion, ended the longest title reign and win streak in XWA history and defended the Pure Title twice. The man's a blue chipper, white hot, whatever you wanna call him.

There he stood dressed in yet another clean cut black business suit, towing the coveted championship on his shoulder as he made his stoic march down to the ring where yet another man stood to challenge him. The expression on Magnus' face was as always a calm and calculating one. He stepped into the ring where a ringhand immediately handed him a microphone from outside. Slowly he was beginning to become more in tuned to how the "American" style of wrestling was...

Romeo Davis. To have such a name as that...Romeo. A man who's star-crossed fate led him to his true love, and his tragic end. Ah, the eternal tale, one which we can all learn from...that to have true passion for something or someone is to be willing to put your very life at stake for it. That is something which I would assume that you feel for this business, is it not?

That is what it is that these fans adore the most of you, Mr. Davis...your passion. It was that passion that drove you into battle against some of the finest pure grapplers in the world over the last few months. Men like my countryman Godlieve Van Der Sar and Primo Valiante.

The crowd in San Antonio respond with boos towards those men, obviously not the most loved superstars on the XWA roster.

Despite their reputations however, despite their skill, you have victories against them both and that Mr. Davis...intrigues me. You say that this is the route you wish to take, Pure Rules? I have twice faced men in this ring for this title whom have that all important quality which the insiders call "potential".

Nathan Browne...Steven Toreno, both men a lot like you. A tremendous "upside". I have seen that potential in them, and indirectly in you by watching you from that day we encountered one another months ago. Facing me however is not your run of the mill contest though, as it is becoming apparent.

You will have to go beyond your potential in order to defeat me. You will have to as your namesake speaks give your very life if need be, in a literal sense, if you wish to become a champion. If you wish to become the next Pure Champion.

Romeo brings the microphone before his lips.

"To answer your question that you asked at the beginning of your speech, yea that is how I feel about this business. That is how I feel about wrestlin’. I am willing to put anything and everything on the line to get where I want. I’m pretty sure that ya feel the same way ‘bout wrestlin’. I mean I know that it is. Wrestlin’ is in your blood and you are defiantly one of the best in this business hands down. To be the best, ya got to beat the best."

Romeo stops speaking for a moment. He turns and looks at the crowd surrounding him. He then returns his attention to Magnus as he continues to speak.

"‘Bout those victories over Godlieve and Primo, let’s not talk ‘bout that. I’m sure that it doesn’t matter to you who I’ve beaten in the past. Great wrestlers they were and I have respect for them even while I feuded with them, but that’s not the case now. Right now it’s between you and I. It’s time that I push myself to the limit and add another great wrestler in this business to the list. Like you said before, it’s my passion that drove me this far and it will be my passion to bring me to great heights. Ya say that I have to go beyond my potential to beat you, well I agree. This will be no walk in the park at all. It will be two wrestlers goin’ at it to win the prize with that being the XWA Pure Championship. I’m tellin’ ya Magnus, I do wish to become champion and I will put everything I’ve got into this match to come out on top. I’ve worked hard since day one so why stop now?"

Romeo wanted this match more than anything right now. He was ready for action and ready to get some XWA gold. He lowered the microphone and waited for the response from Magnus.
